Hi all,
I've been an owner of the Kia Stinger GT for 2 years (in Australia)
Today I got the stock exhaust swapped out for the Jonny TIG 3.3 Single 4" SS Exhaust system which includes 2 downpipes. I also had AEM cold air intakes intalled and a Uni-X chip tune.
I received the car back from the mechanics and was excited until i got in and started the engine.
The engine drone was so loud I had ear pain after driving! Even with low revs it felt like the entire car frame was shaking - it goes through my seat and chatters my teeth!

I'm contemplating whether this is a product issue, or whether something went wrong with the installation? If anybody else has this exhaust system and could shed some pearls of wisdom that would be greatly appreciated.

Not surprised at all. Especially with those primary downpipes, you might start leaking oil through turbos. Also, I wonder why whould you need 4 inch diameter!! With dual 2inch stock piping, 3-3.25 inch single would have been enough, unless my school math is wrong.

get the exhaust pipe all the way out past the bumper (or at least flush with) and your drone should disappear. It looks from the photo they're just trying to dump the exhaust under the car.

Replace the fake tips with something that attaches to the Pipe coming outnof the muffler. I did this with my MBRP catback and the drone is gone.

Thank you for the reply,
Could you kindly explain why i would get oil leaking with those particular downpipes? I presume you mean engine oil?

thank you Snowwhhite and ht_addict, this is consistent with a lot of research that I have done which makes a lot of sense actually. I will take this to an exhaust shop and see what they can do.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Looks like turbo needs some back pressure for the seal to seal properly. There're a lot of reports of turbos leaking oil once primary downpipes were replaced for free flowing ones. And I experienced it myself on the car. It wasn't a stinger though.

Agree, get the exhaust well into the tips for sound to exit.

Everyone saying to get proper tips that extend past the bumper are 100% correct. The difference it made on my car was beyond my expectations. Mine is a twin 3” with 100 cell cats and yes, it does blow some smoke. I spoke to a tech from Garrett
who confirmed a drop of back pressure from a free flowing exhaust can cause the issue. And OE designs can be especially sensitive.

Hi OP,

Did you end up getting the drone fixed up?

I have heard horror stories about JT but as a fellow Aussie his products are top notch. I've actually met him, face to face, and he is doing all his welds and installs himself now. His customer service can be dreadful but his shop is tiny but unfortunately only one Jonny lol but never less super nice guy!

I have his air intakes and intercooler (soon). Hope the intercooler is all well and good, as i am getting a JB4 (with plugs)

Looking next to get a exhaust but I can't find any videos or clips on the JT exhaust?

You're going to be waiting awhile for the exhaust. I'm assuming you're from SA in that case you'll probably get it quicker.

Try youtube for JT exhaust sound there's bound to be one on there.
