Is the Telluride to SUV's what the Stinger is to sedans?

I know there is a Telluride forum, but I want to know if the Telluride is as good as the Stinger.

As good as the Stinger in what way?

It's one of Kia's newer cars, so probably developed with a similar corporate mindset, rather than being an evolution of a vehicle that's been around for a while. It seems to have good reviews and feedback.

We don't (and won't) get it in Australia, so I can't really give much more than that. :)

Simple answer is yes. I bought them both in March. My wife and are in love with both of them. Similar to the Stinger, you cannot buy a better SUV for the money.

I disagree, I love my Stinger! My wife's Telluride is meh. Yes you do get a lot for your money but it doesn't have that sex appeal the Stinger has.

I’m not comparing the Stinger to the Telluride. I agree, I would buy a Stinger 1000 times over a Telluride. I am saying that the Telluride compared to every other SUV that is offered today, you cannot buy a better SUV for the money.

Stinger vs. any other sports sedan (for the money), can’t beat the Stinger.

Telluride vs. any other 3 row SUV (for the money”, can’t beat the Telluride.

^ I'd say that's a fair comparison (albeit the Palisade may have something to say about that).

House-holds w/ a Stinger and Telluride in the driveway/garage are popping up all over the place.

Unlike for the Stinger, Kia can't keep up w/ demand for the Telluride, esp. for the top trim (the Telluride is selling above MSRP in many places, esp. for the top trim).

This is what I meant. Does the Telluride have the same relationship to SUV's as the Stinger does to sedans? To further simplify, the Stinger is fantastic especially in terms of it's price. Is the Telluride also fantastic? The reviews have been extremely good, it beats out the Pilot and the Explorer.

Personally, I don't like driving trucks/SUV's. If I did I would pick something with more power, like the Grand Cherokee SRT. However, my wife would be more than happy with the Telluride's 290 hp. I saw one at the dealership and was impressed. Her Pilot has 80k on the odometer. At 100k she should pick up a new vehicle.

I've had my Stinger for a year and a half.
The wife went out shopping to replace the AWD Sienna mini van 3 weeks ago. It was down to the Hyundai Palisade Limited, Subaru Ascent, and Volvo XC90 T6. You got a LOT more for the money in the Palisade but my wife went for the Volvo. I'm sure the badge had a lot to do with her decision but the T6 engine is a heck of a lot snappier and makes the Volvo more fun to drive.

I personally wouldn't have made that decision but, happy wife happy life. Below was my list of major differences.

We have the Telluride for the wife on order and yes, for the value it beats anything out there. It even beats the Pallisade as the Pallisade is slightly smaller for the interior cargo room. The biggest bonus though is that the Telluride doesn't have that huge hideous grill the Pallisade has.The telluride doesn't have the power third row, but it does have the power folding mirrors which you can't get folding mirrors at any level on the Pallisdae. So they each have plusses and minuses, but the looks to me is more important inside and outside.

A few months back I was planning on trading my Stinger for a Telluride. Then I actually sat in one and just couldn't make myself like the interior. I was particularly bothered by the faux wood trim. It just had a really low-scale kinda feel (but up-scale look, granted).

For the money, though, there isn't a better 3 row SUV out there, as far as I know.

Good stuff, guys. The Telluride has been selling for full retail, maybe even more. This time next year prices should come down.

The dealer we were at was selling the Palisade at Invoice.

We've had our 2nd Gen XC90 almost three years now after owning a 1st Gen XC90 and I pretty much agree with the comparison. Though there is remote start with the Volvo On Call app, granted you have to pay a subscription fee, but you can do a lot with the app and from anywhere with internet access. Ours also has 360 camera view. The biggest negative is 3rd row access is one of the worst in the industry - and it hasn't changed at all from the 1st gen design - due to the confusing way you have to fold the seats and they are heavy AF. Also the Sensus infotainment is slow and glitchy - but it's getting better after each update. Where it shines is how the XC90 drives, since it has a supercharger and turbo charger there is zero lag so it launches hard from a dead stop and the power is instant from any situation every time, and handling is great for an SUV - not soft but not too firm.

I sat in a Telluride and the interior is about par for the class - Highlander, Pilot, Explorer, etc. meaning is doesn't give off a luxury vibe so I wouldn't say it was a value competitor to an X5, Q7, XC90, etc luxury 3 row, but I would agree it's very competitive in the family 3 row class of crossovers in the same price range.

One of our dealers here..Kia of Muncie is selling the Tellurides at costco pricing, so if you want a good deal on one, they are the ones to contact. Happy shopping!!

It still depends on what your criteria of "better" is. I have a 2017 Toyota Highlander SE. It has 3 rows and I haul my 3 kids around in it. Would i trade it for a Telluride? No.

It gets far better fuel economy than the very thirsty Telluride (i'm averaging 10.3 L/100 KM combined) and has rock solid resale value and reliability. It's definitely not as big and I like that. It's also cheaper to purchase and the lowest trim Toyota's come with all of the safety stuff (Smart cruise, Rear cross traffic alert, emergency autonomous braking, etc) that you have to pick a top trim with most other brands to get, Kia included. So "for the money" i'd still choose the Highlander.

Here is another comparing the Kia to the Toyota and the Honda Pilot.

The Telluride won with a score of 68 vs 66.5 for the Highlander and 65 for the Honda Pilot.

My wife owns a Pilot and I disagree with these scores. I test drove a Telluride. The Telluride is far superior to the Pilot in nearly every way, looks, performance, luxury. A 68 to 65 score is far closer than these 2 vehicles are in reality. The Kia looks far better, both inside and out, better tech, more powerful engine. I do not consider these vehicles to even be in the same class.
