Taillight shattered on its own...

Ur
Its the bolts that hold the light in place. They are too tight so if it gets hot there is no room for expansion and it cracks.
Also can you update your profile to show your location thanks. City and state is fine.
Ur prob correct about over tightened bolts... hmm I guess I'm out of 500+$ cos of this. I think I may try complain depending on OP outcome

My center taillight and one of rear light cracked when car was fairly new. No impact that I know of no dents... kia rep came to inspect and wouldn't cover under warranty... they paid for portion of it I was 500 out of pocket I think center and side light cost more than 500 alone but that was the best they did for me
Send an email up to Kia with the situation. Regional reps and dealer declined my initial claim.
When I escalated the issue mine was finally addressed.
It looks like your lights are hazing like mine did as well

Hazing!?
Is that inside or outside causation? You are in a beach climate. Would salty air cause outside hazing on plastic lenses?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Can we het some build dates guys please.
The other thing is could the lights have been tightened up too tightly causing stress fractures?
I agree, if bolts are too tight that could cause undue stress on this assembly, they should be able to advise the amount of torque that needs to be applied when tightening.
That’s why I got my Dealer Service Dept. to change out my reversing bulbs, I inspected before & after & no cracking, if cracks appear it will be down to them.

I actually took both of my Stingers in for the fading/ staining of the red part. It looks like yours is stained as well.
That shouldn’t be faded, they agreed but accused me of using some kind of chemical that damaged the lights. BS... but I did use goo gone on the rebadging. They didn’t approve the claim.
My right side tail light did crack on my yellow car and they replaced that part.
There was no indication of impact nor was there any.

They
What a load of bunkum re: chemical damage to the plastic, if you used a chemical that strong enough to do that why is this chemical on the market, you may need a health check & your paintwork would be toast....really.
If a dealer tried to insult my intelligence with that sort of BS retorhic I would call them on it & demand an independent chemical analysis to confirm or deny the cause...what’s next the car wash detergent you used is too strong...car manufacturers have been producing this stuff for years if there is an issue let them scientifically prove it, they think everyone is dumber than them, but hey, they car salesman, that’s there lot in life for goodness sake, don’t believe a word that comes out of their mouths.....ever.

These defects are Tesla bad. Its like KIA gave some of the elements of Stinger engineering to its junior engineers for practice.

We all need to remember that this is a new model, chasis and design in its first year of production. Issues like this and others will happen and Kia will address them on subsequent builds. This is also one of the reasons I opted to wait for a 2019.

Agreed but taillight torquing, headlight spacing and other weird issues the car has are table stakes, This may be the first model year, but it isnt their first car.

All of those designs for the items you listed are new and unique to the Stinger. I’m not saying they’re acceptable, I’m just saying that this stuff happens on net new builds. Kia will get it sorted. It just sucks for those of us who have to deal with dealers to sort out these flaws.

Hey guys, I just found this crack on mine too and I didn’t do anything!! I was in shock seeing how bad it was, right in the middle. So most of you guys couldn’t get a warranty claim approved?

I just got it replaced under warranty today. This is the second time I've had it replaced under warranty. I am at 26,XXX miles. There was water getting inside . I showed it to the service rep and pointed out that there is cracks and moisture in the center tail light. They ordered the part and texted me when it was in. Took about a month to arrive. Less than an hour to replace. I think it depends on the dealer. I usually deal with the same guy that owns a Stinger himself. And there is a bulb in the center bar ( reverse if I'm not mistaken) so it can cause electrical damage down the line if not replaced.

Mine dont have any staining its just cracks everywhere. Ill take some better photos later and report back about what the dealer says.
I just had mine done by warranty. Kia did warranty the lights but they said they never saw or heard of this tail lights cracking.

Totaly forgot about this but mine was covered under warranty and no issues since.
