Surprised how noisy new GT Premium is on rough roads

After driving two Kia Optimas over the last six years, I was disappointed in the loud drumming noise coming from the tires and suspension of my new Stinger. Sounds like harmonic thrumming. Anybody else experience this?

Specific to the tires, that may come down to compound - a race compound in the Pilot Sport 4's? I imagine Optimas came with all season tires which are typically more quiet.

My Kia Stinger came with Bridgestone Potenzas 225/45-18 They don't look that aggressive. The noise on gravel or slightly rough roads sounds like the structure of the car is drumming as the suspension works.

Check air pressure in tires. when I got my stinger the pressure on delivery was 54 LBS lowered it to 42 and I have a less noisy and smoother ride for sure. PS::: I have the all season 18" tires too

Thanks, but pressure is 36 front, 39 rear as specified. That's not the problem.

The Bridgestone tires are noisy. It’s been discussed here multiple times. Get some new, better tires and that will be solved. Look them up on tire rack.com, you can watch some videos on them and read others experience with them.

Wow! That's doing the entire car! How much time and money did that take and what's the reduction in noise equate to?

Love the "purple" by the way. That Deep Chroma Blue with its ability to look different depending on the light is great. Just suck that we never got it.

It took them a week but they did a great job and even some ratling around the door seals have gone. The measured reduction in noise at the driver ear level is 3dB and you almost hear no road noise - now I compare it with the newest BMW 5 so it is really good. The cost in Poland is around 2000$ We are picking up the white one after the same job done tomorrow so will share some pics as well

Forgot to add that it was measured at 100 km/h and the sound performance of HK system has improved a lot

I can only imagine that with a better sealed interior, the sound system would sound better not having to compete with outside noises.

We made this car model for the first time, so we had a lot of concerns about it, but we did it!

but we noticed one issue with the Stinger - the biggest problems with noise come from very thin or not good quality in terms of noise insulation glass used in windows (in doors and windshield) - now when our cars are really silent, this is very obvious.

In fairness, 65.8 dB at 60mph ain't really bad. Many cars register 68-70 or more at highway speeds in the road tests I see.

I would do this.. I spend a lot of time in the car and it does feel quite loud at times. I’ve actually been considering dumping the Stinger for Genesis. I love the style of the Stinger but feel that they cut corners in the wrong places. The car is so close to being perfect but the minor issues are major ones to remedy unfortunately.
