Thought I'd share this with you. I have been in contact with Kia head office Australia for the past few weeks trying to see why I cannot log into their site with my vin for the capped price service owners guide, and after a few exchanged emails they told me they finally figured out it is because they haven't yet updated it with all the MY19 model cars. I told them mine is an 18. They told me no.... Mine is a 19. I was shocked. It didn't state anything on my compliance plates, my rego, nor my sales contract. I just contacted the yard I bought it from and they confirmed that I do indeed have the MY19 (the initial sales guy gave me the wrong information as he told me he was selling me the MY18).

Anyhow, that might be why my car has some of the extras that others on the forum have stated there's doesn't have! I feel a little chuffed by this news, especially since I got it for a really good price. I thought I was getting it cheaper because it was the older year model. :geek:

Nice, you scored a bargain there, $5k off retail for MY19 I’d be chuffed too....

Congrats! What were the extra items you mentioned?

Good score. Make sure you get that in writing somewhere for resale/trade purposes. And see about getting a different compliance plate if yours says MY18.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Already did. It doesn't have the MYyear on it at all. Head office also told me to look and that's when I noticed that it was absent.

Actually now that I think about it I think your VIN identifies the MY and MYxx may not appear on the plate so you may need to confirm that your VIN is a MY19 VIN.

I know this is a cynical take but, it always amazes me how people can spend so much money without really knowing what they are buying.

Well, when you want something, details of an inconsequential or unexpected nature usually slide on by. Not everyone is OC about pinning down every little thing before they "pull the trigger". I sure wasn't. I knew that I'd find out tons of stuff about my car after the fact. But I knew enough going in to know that later revelations would not make me regret my purchase. And here we are, more satisfied than ever. :D

*Selling

He knew what he was buying MY2018. The sells people didn't know what they were selling.

Well I actually did 7 months of research on this car, so I spent the money on what I believed to be an MY18 car..... Was happy to do so after all I found out. The caryard also told me that it was MY18. So as far as I'm concerned I did all that anyone possibly could. And I got MORE than I was expecting so not sure how the cynicism is warranted.

I actually WAS OC about this car as it was a massive purchase for me. I looked at every review that was out there for 7 months and knew most of the specs better than the sales team (well, let's be honest..... That's not hard most of the time lol). What I DIDN'T do is spend 10 hours going over every spec when I picked the car up.....I don't know anyone who does, as I expected it to be exactly as I've researched and what the car yard told me. I was more than happy to spend the money on what I thought was an MY18. I just got a little bonus is all. Lol.

There is no 19 in the vin. If anything theres 17 in the last 4 numbers..... Hmmmm. That was concerning. Lol.

Update : I looked this up online. It says the 10th character (or 8th character from the right... However you like to read it) denotes the year of the car. My 10th character is a K, so I looked up their chart and yes a K denotes 2019 model.

Compliance plate doesn't state year model, but I just found out one of the letters in the vin denotes the year model, and that's correctly stated on the compliance plate.

You’re laughing then. I wonder how the dealer got a 19 model without knowing about it. And whether they have any more.

My bad. Thank you for ignoring my ignorance. Do you ride R6 as well?

Or your might be 1989 model
Yes. I sure do ride an R6. That's me and her in my pic. She's great.

And I was waiting for someone to make the 1989 comment hahahaha. ;)
