It would be scary if that happened whilst driving.Interestingly, I had this happen for the very first time about a week ago. Got in to start it and the brake pedal was like a rock.

Is that the backyard to Jerry Seiner, South Jordan?Took my car in today to get serviced and get the recall taken care of. The technician came over to me and told me he'd never seen anything like it before but that the inside of the cylinder was just destroyed and because of that they'd need a whole new assembly. It has to come from South Korea so they don't know how long it'll be, my baby is gone for possibly weeks now. Sucks, but there's not much that can be done with the covid caused shortages. I posted about a weird issue with my emergency brake light being on no matter what I did and now we're wondering if it was related.
Only thing that irked me was they got us an Uber to a rental care place because they have absolutely no inventory to loan out right now which was great, but they didn't call ahead and it turns out the rental car place literally had no cars. So I had to get another Uber home on my dime this time.
I took a picture of my baby stuck back in the service lot to remember it by.

Salt Lake.Is that the backyard to Jerry Seiner, South Jordan?
I’ve been told, and shown a photo of, the plastic impeller of the vacuum that pump could break into bits on defective ones. So not just a code but a serious malfunction of the breaking system in case of a damaged impeller. This must be what I am having replaced next Monday. The dealer instigated the repair. I asked why, and was told that a screwy vacuum pump will throw a dash code, so, Kia ordered that the work just be done to prevent the hassle of people coming in with a code. Hm. I think there must be more to it than that?
Sounds like what happened to mine. Definitely more than a code.I’ve been told, and shown a photo of, the plastic impeller of the vacuum that pump could break into bits on defective ones. So not just a code but a serious malfunction of the breaking system in case of a damaged impeller.
Haven't heard a thing from them.I had the vacuum pump replaced today and it took roughly one hour; in, out.
@P22Tyler how is the progress on yours going? The part was ordered on the 21st Ultimo and a week later the part arrived and they called and set up the appointment for today. If the part does come from Korea it must come via air express (skip right over all 62 ships waiting offshore to be unloaded, Heh!).
UPDATE: Apparently they got the part in and the car is done. Got a text from the dealer just a few minutes ago.Haven't heard a thing from them.
Save your receipts and submit them to your warrant company, also your warranty covers a rental. So if that rental particular rental place doesnt have inventory call KIA Consumer Affairs at 18003334542.Took my car in today to get serviced and get the recall taken care of. Good to know. I've been chasing a long/soft pedal issue, I thought it may have been caused by a faulty pump, as I get a weird whirring noise from around that area after a couple of pedal pumps, then the pedal goes to the floor..For any Aussies reading this thread, I've booked a 30k service for next week and asked if this applied to our cars. The answer was "no". Service receptionist also said she had a call from another owner asking the same.
Yes that's correct, has always been my experience too, that's why it has me stumped^^^Howdy and welcome. Always when a brake pedal is going "soft", in my past experience with other vehicles, pumping the brakes firms the pedal up. So, your description is counterintuitive.![]()
