Sunset Yellow's Out, and the Dealers will KILL the Stinger.....

The year they come back out with Yellow GT2s is the year I replace my 2018 GT2.

Agree with the standardizing the repaints. They said no way to me to repaint plastic also which would have kept me in the yellow. Others they went and approved a whole car repaint which is the only thing that made sense to me.

I did like that they gave us options and the buyback worked perfectly for me and now love my ceramic with red interior GT2..so still more than happy with my purchase decision.

Ill jump in with my "tale" of the buyback. Kia refused to paint anything additional on my car above the bulletin so no "good will" as it were. The dealer did end up agreeing to cover my peeling headlights bumper so that was ok. The biggest issue for me was that i actually had paint chips on the inner door jamb on both rear doors and Kia simply refused to repaint given they said chipping there was not possible. Hmmm, standing here looking at the paint i would tend to disagree.

I went with buyback and it was nothing but smooth. Had my case owner changed multiple times and extra time was taken to approve my tint and clear bra, which in the end, they did pay for. Go to surrender the car at local dealer (7mi from home) and the rep no shows me. So, i sit in Service Director office for 45 min waiting around before i leave. No explanation why. Surrender re-scheduled for 3 weeks later and Kia wont recut the payoff check to cover the added interest. Further, i now have to surrender at a dealer 65 miles from home on the explanation that "no others will take the car?" WTF...seriously. I call the local dealer and Service Director says he wont take care since Kia wasted his time the last time...

I argue and Kia agrees to pay for Uber home after surrender. Actual surrender takes around 45 min to go over all paperwork and such.

Then i have to prove to Kia how much the added interest is and then wait for another check. After that i have to get refunds on optional contracts and GAP and then prove again to Kia the difference for added reimbursement. Perhaps my deal was more complex due to lease then buyout but the entire proces from the date i agreed to sell back the car to the date in which Kia made me whole per the agreement was almost 5 months.

In the end, i was sad to see the car go and leaving it in the service bay that evening was difficult. However, i am happy that Kia eventually held up their end of the offer and did repay what they said they would repay.

Its a damn shame they did not step up better for the repaint as i felt the car in that color was simply stunning and like many others have stated would get comments on it weekly.

I ran a VIN track the other day and noticed mine was taken to MI so who knows what its fate would be.

When all said and done, i got to enjoy the car for 9 months, 12,xxx miles, and many hours of smiles all for Kia to buy it back with limited, if any, loss on my end.

To those of you that kept the car, i truly hope the supply/demand keeps and the value increases based on the same. I can only imagine the numbers remaining are quite low.

Cheers

Kia was saying that YOU did that, getting in and out, putting things in and taking them out. Tacitly that is what their denial meant.

Your patience and understanding demonstrate a charitable outlook. I'm glad Kia came through for you.

And thanks for helping me do the buyout.

That's funny. I rarely used the back doors and the flakes/chips were EXACTLY the same as elsewhere on the car. Oh well, kia made me whole so no regrets or complaints.

Perhaps another one is in my future based on how the line develops and matures. Will def need some vibrant colors down the road as well
For me.
