Sunset Yellow Limited Edition Stinger GT

Here in the UK Sunset Yellow is the only standard colour available. For all the other colour options it is an extra £645. The colour options by country seem arbitrary, no micro-blue for us, my preferred option.
We don't get the option of AWD in the UK and it does occasionally snow here - but with the LSD, winter tyres and a bit of skill it's could be quite good fun. Lots of taxis in the Alps take you up to ski resorts with RWD no trouble.

Is it “worth” paying markup for a special color? I don’t think my pride would let me, and if I wanted it that bad I’d call a few body shops to see what it would cost to have my car painted any color I wanted.

As far as RWD; with a set of snow tires on hand, you’re not missing out on much. RWD won’t have the increased ride height that AWD does, and IMO would be preferable in the dry.
I've seen it mentioned that some dealers are looking to charge $10k extra for the special edition. I'd definitely look into a less expensive alternative to getting the color I wanted.

I can't imagine paying 5k over sticker when that could almost get you a GT2. The GT doesn't have the sunroof or upgraded sound system, although the special edition has the LSD and drivewise tech. We believe from the initial Kia.com configurator launch (which got altered less than 24 hours later) than in addition to the 400 limited yellow GT's, yellow will also be available on the GT2. Seems worth waiting to find out. If they're gonna charge you $47k for an almost base GT, you could pay 3k more and have a fully loaded GT2 in the same color, or even add AWD to it and not need a winter car.

I didn't hear it, when the Kia website configurator first launched, it had yellow available on the gt2, and a very specific configuration of the base GT. We later learned that that specific GT was a 400-run limited edition which my dealer just confirmed they're getting one of. Kia pulled all yellow off the configurator within 24 hours, because none of those units were actually available yet. So I'm assuming since the limited yellow base gt is real, that the yellow on the gt2 was up for a reason also.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Well, you COULD have everything your way but you'd need to get the AWD and have the car wrapped

This is your best option. I dont live in the US so i dont know which states have harder winters. I do live in Canada and I can tell you in snow RWD isnt gona treat you well. Save the 5k you're willing to spend on a markup and put it towards a wrap if color is important to you. 5k can prob get you a quality wrap job that will last years and look sleek. Plus the bonus..in 3 or 4 years time when you get sick or bored of the wrap you can peel it off to reveal a glossy, untouched factory paintjob!

A yellow stinger? Hell, I can't even find one outside of red, black or blue! Give us some variety please!
The selection has a lot to be desired. Getting frustrated with dealership experience as salesman don't reply when I ask for an ETA on any other colors arriving.

You know how many sales people are - they only care about the sale that can happen today. :(

Seems stupid to pay over sticker for a yellow gt if they are releasing a yellow gt2? It would be nice to find out if that is true that they will release a yellow gt2 before I have to make my decision. I was told today that my dealership is recieving the limited edition 1 of 400 yellow gt which I have first dibs on but I may have to turn it down and get a awd version.

Agreed. If I have to pay for the DriveWise package I don't even want, I may as well get a Yellow GT2 once that's confirmed. I'm sure my dealer will mark up the yellow GT (I wish they'd give us an official name for this limited edition run), but I'm not so convinced anyone will pay it given how long they've had their current stock on hand with what seems like just $1,000 markups.

So in another thread it was just mentioned that @MurlinatoR is getting an AWD GT version of this Sunset Yellow Limited Edition at his dealership, and also that there are GT2 versions as well. So apparently the 400 units of this car aren't even the same trim with the same options, making the waters now very much muddled. All I knew was my local dealer was getting one but now I don't have a clue what version it'll be and what it'll cost. I encourage people to chime in on this thread if they've received any information from their dealers.

The only other differences will be the AWD to RWD. That' based on market.

The 400 units are split between these.

So that makes four versions? GT RWD, GT AWD, GT2 RWD and GT2 AWD? I assume all have Drivewise and only the RWD's have the LSD. Interesting. I live in Maryland and I feel like our dealers are getting an awful lot of AWD's despite our weather really not requiring it unless you're up in the mountains.

Hey @Jonathan ! I'll get you the answers that you need!

Many, but not all! *Big Cheesy Grin*

Yeah, the AWD is available. No reason to pay that much for it, either. I'l sell them at MSRP.

Haha, I'm in MN too, after spending 2 hours and 45 minutes driving to the cities the other day (normally takes 45) in my fwd Optima. Saw about 40 cars in the ditch. I would never get an rwd car..

You can put any car in the ditch when road surface is sketchy, can't beat the coefficient of friction LOL.
I do laugh when I see the SportCompact Car crowd in the ditch with their slammed Accords.

If I lived in MN I'd go AWD too, just remember to go for the 18" with all-seasons, because AWD won't help much in the snow when you've still got Summer tires.

I guess I thought more people would be interested in the limited edition sunset yellow. With only 400 available I just don’t want to pass up an opportunity I might regret. It’s too bad they didn’t decide to make it in awd.
Go with your head not your heart otherwise you might end up in one of those "Ditches" the guy talked about.

Nah, I don't want the neutered version of the car. I'd get the 19s and throw some winter's in it.

That's my plan too since I've got an extra set of 18/225's. Assuming the Stinger has the same wheel hub layout as the Optima. I don't suppose anyone knows offhand if that's the case?
