Sunset Yellow Discussion

I must fully agree I got many thumbs up from others looking ,and asking what type of Kia this is lol Most really like the Stinger looks !!
Came out of Sams yesterday and my wife in the yellow waiting for me out front...I notice a guy walking in breaking his neck looking as he walked in .... I say “it’s a KIA” as the tailgate lifts. “Honey...it’s a KIA” he says..... Didn’t even mention the 2 tone yellow paint.... nor will anyone else ...ever

Oof, that sounds like there's a lot more wrong with it than just the paint. I've had two paint chips since the repaint but no idea what caused them so I can for sure attribute it to poor paint. I'm just gonna cover them up and deal with it. Brakes, seats and interior are all fine on mine. Good luck dealing with any issues though.

So with the announcement of this orange Stinger GTS trim we're all relegated to only being the second most ostentatious color!

Trouble is, I wanted the orange one that I saw at SEMA.

I was even contemplating wrapping my car that color, it is one sexy beast. It is about time they released it.

Welcome!
Was it repainted at the dealership prior to purchase?

Yes it was, my original post was considerably longer and then I decided to go by old “if I couldn’t say anything nice, don’t say anything” I did buy it after the repaint, which very unfortunately was not disclosed at time of purchase, then shortly after buying it I washed it and the paint fell off. It’s been back at the dealer for 2 weeks now getting repaired. Of course once I brought it to the dealer a Kia regional service manager was supposed to go inspect it and let me know about defects from Re-spray #1, but before that happened I get pictures from the dealership of them spot sanding and painting. I hope it turns out right.

Has anyone had issues with the brembos warping without 2k miles of purchase? Without driving that hard? Mine did ...

I mean they hired the head of BMW's M division specifically to do the suspension so if it's not tight enough for you I'd chalk it up to that being an intentional decision to keep it focused as more of a grand touring car and less track focused, because it's certainly not for lack of his experience. A lot of people prefer those Eibachs but for my use and the roads around me the stock suspension has been great. Sucks about all the issues though. If your local dealership is just flat out bad at repainting then invoking a lemon law might be in your best interest. But some beater to drive around for a while then go for that GTS as soon as you can.

Unbelievable. Kia must pull their hair out, having to deal with these cretins.

When you say the paint "fell off", what exactly did you see?

Just what I said my wash mit had chunks of yellow paint on it. Around both hood vents the paint literally fell off in flakes. I’m guessing there was some contaminate that got under the base coat and it didn’t bind, or they put the vents back on before the paint was cured.

Did you get the chunks of paint on your mitts from the hood also? Or in other words, is the rest of the respray looking good?

I’m trying to be positive about it, there were a few nibs in the paint on the roof, a crack on the fender and side sill which wasn’t under recall, also some spots under the clear coat on one panel. I’m hoping it will all get corrected. I live in the desert so temp in the summer can hit 120 I just want to make sure this paint willl hold.
