Sunroof sounds

Once I hit around 11k sounds from what I think is the sunroof began, and its driving me mad. There were several different sounds, creaking and some sort of soft rattle and a sound that I can only describe as velcro being pulled on. I liberally applied silicone lube not just to the sunroof seals but the plastic parts that run along and sit between the sunroof and the door, if you press on them they creak. The silicone seems to have dealt with the creaks. I seem to have figured out if I hear the velcro/rattlish sound and press up on the roof liner at the edge of the sunroof the sound is eliminated or reduced at least. On closer inspection there are four points I have found, two on the left two on the right where there are contact points that looks like there are velcro contact points. If you push up on this part of the liner you can hear the sound. I'm not sure what to do to address this. I wish I had not bought the trim with a sunroof but still the 3.3, too late to do shit about that. I'm going to take it to the dealer and see what they say, I'm not holding my breath, but I wonder if I just filled these four spots with gorilla glue if it would stop. Driving around blasting music at all times to not hear it is not an acceptable fix. Hopefully I can figure this out or I'll just have to sell it at a loss rather than be pissed off every time I drive my car.

One of the simple fixes I've read about with the headliner *crackle* is to do what you've already done, only pushing harder: it fastens Velcro or something in there that has worked loose (or was never fully compressed in the first place). Another less simple fix involves loosening/tightening the frame screws.

I don't know: if this happens to me, and quick fixes like hitting the headliner with my fist won't get rid of the noise(s), I think I'll look into trading in the sunroof for a GT (sans sunroof). I like this car that much that I'd get another one before looking for something that has and does all that the Stinger is. I don't think such an option is out there. The kind of fun I have owning this car is uniquely Stinger: I wouldn't change a thing.

Merlin you f*cking wizard, I just went out and really pushed up on those four spots way harder than I have previously. Heard three pops, drove about for a minute and the sound appears to be gone.

Where are the spots? Trying to figure out what the picture is of? Sunroof or close to the door?

The pic is a closeup of the sunroof opening; but I'll be enlightened as well if what we are looking at is explained: because it looks to me like @Janguli did "exploratory surgery" on the headliner and separated it to see what's inside. You can see the passenger door below, out of focus (red door card, window buttons).

I have the crinks/crackles on my headliner. It does seem to appear in warmer weather. I tried the fix and heard the pop, but it's not completely fixed.

The picture was taken on a phone camera with the sunroof open completely and me sticking up through it. I'm basically looking across the plane of the roof but an inch or two lower with the camera pointed slightly down so I could see into that gap when the sunroof is open. I didn't remove or do anything other than open the sunroof completely.

There is still a slight rattle when the sunroof is completely closed, when opened at all it stops so I'm guessing its the hardware is slightly loose when not engaged.

That slight rattle led to me pushing and pulling on the opening of the sunroof and I think that is what created the loud rattling as a result of me having accidently disconnected three of the four clips that apparently hold that part in place. Merlins suggestion of me pushing up really hard resulted in three pops and the loud rattling was gone.

The clips are on the sides, not front or back. Two on the left equally spaced and two on the right.

I did the same thing that you describe: and the difference that threw me was the "foamy" look of your sides that probably are lubricant (I have never put anything in or on there). Everything else looks the same as in your pic.

Yes, they were quite liberal with their use of lube on my sunroof.
