Hey Everyone - New member here! I have a 2019 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD and I would like to get recommendations on summer tires. Currently, I have the stock all-season tires that come with the AWD model, but they're horrible in the snow in my experience (Chicago). Can you please recommend a few tires for summer season? Do summer tires make more road noise than the stock tires? I do like to keep a quiet interior if possible. Thanks in advance for your time and help!

different tires make different sounds. comes down to how the tire was designed. some winters are noisy (due to wider grooves and sipes. same with summers/performance. some are mild and make little sound. others make lots. reviews will usually shed light on it.

indy 500 by firestone is a pretty good summer tread. respectable traction and rather cheap. people also really like Extreme Contact DWS

My opinion is summer tires can be quieter than all seasons due to softer rubber and a lower tread wear rating. My wife’s old CRV had rock hard economy tires and they made more noise than her snow tires. My summer tires were always quieter than the winters on my Focus ST.

I’ve never had a set, but Michelin Pilot Sports seem to be some of the best summer performance tires out there, but they aren’t cheap.

I’ll second the Firestone Indy 500’s. I had a set on my old Focus ST and for the price, they were fantastic. They have a slightly higher tread wear rating than Pilot Sports and they are significantly less expensive. I ran them for about 6 months (got rid of the car) and they performed well in the dry and rain. Once the tires got a little heat in them they were very sticky and made the ST a blast in the twistys.

I run Michelin PS4S tires, I love them and they have amazing grip but youre asking a pretty loaded question here. We dont really know whats important to you. For example the Michelin Pilot Sport lineup might offer you the best grip but a lower treadlife and if you dont care as much about grip as you do treadlife you probably dont need to spend all that cash to get Michelin's.

Id suggest you visit the tirerack tire decision guide, it does a great job of walking you through the decision process on picking the right tires. Im not suggesting you buy through them but you can at least use their guide to pick out a tire then shop around once you know what you want.

Continental ExtremeContact Sport was my decision, a bit better value compared against the Michelin PS4S’s, supposed to be nearly as good- not my opinion and I have no experience with either fwiw…tread wear is 340 vs 300, then $50 cheaper at each corner. TireRack has a good camparo video Against the PS4S and a couple others. I’ll be moving up from the stock 225/45/R18 Bridgestones, so it’s easy to imagine the low bar will be ecstatically, and easily vaulted over Lol

Jeez, I’m coming from a Prius people! I used to think the Prius Prime was kinda spunky ROTFLMAO

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I vote Ps4s. great tires. expensive though. I have had good experience with various Continental tires in the past as well.

Howdy and welcome. Lots of threads discussing the virtues of tire brands. I run Nitto Motivo UHP A/S during the winter and Michelin PS4S the rest of the time (on lighter aftermarket wheels than the OEM GT wheels).

I've been running the General GMax RS and they have been great especially for the price. Definitely recommend them if you don't want to pay the extra for the Michelin PS4S, I'm willing to bet the Generals last longer too.
