Story time: Heard that awful noise that no Stinger or car owners want to hear

I have never curb rashed a car, dear hubby oh yeah he does. I have not let him drive my stinger .......................yet
I tend to be pretty cautious when I park my cars, my 06 prius still does not have a door ding.

Better be extra cautious. You put it out there and Murphy is looking for you now !

yup.....

Well after more than a year later, I heard that awful sound again. On the other side this time. I dont park with the kerb on that side much so I completely misjudged a curved kerb.

I got a better camera on my phone this time so I can show the damage in more detail.

Funny even though it looks much worse than the first one, I am no where near that upset like the first time. That first damaged rim doesnt even look as bad anymore. Im sure I will get over it in a couple of days.

If it happens a third time, Im going to get them fixed or buy replacement rims. LOL!

Ouch, that's a bad one. If you can sand/grind it down a little it won't look so bad.

Aftermarket will be cheaper....unless you find a private seller of oem.......gt rims are priced well over aftermarket pricing for a comparative wheel.

I learned to live with mine ...seeing as I'm not the one that actually did the damage...(I learned with my ''base'' set, lol)

Not a big deal at all. Any wheel guy worth his salt can fix that good as new in no time flat. Some will even come to you. Fix it! Trust me I’ve had worse and you can’t tell mine were ever damaged.

mebbe in Canada,lol...on the east coast they're not as good.....least from what I've seen.

 You never get used to that sound/feeling. I've developed strategy that is in my cells now. Avoid turning toward a curb like the plague: if you must, then give the first approach a very generous margin, back up, and approach the end stall straight on as close as you dare: even open your door so that you can look down and see how close the curb is (watch out for any vertical obstacles that are higher than the bottom edge of your door, before doing this). I will either pull clear through to the next end stall ahead, or pull around a curb on the driver's side, so that I can judge how closely my rear wheel is coming to the curb: I've become almost surgical in this maneuver. :D As other have said, the passenger side rear wheel is especially vulnerable if you don't know exactly where the curb is: do a wagon wheel turn if you must, and don't worry about what others think of your driving "skills", heh!

I haven't tried it yet but how about the yellow line on the rear camera? Can that give you at least a guesstimate? I rarely park next to a curbed area . Probably why I'm asking

Parallel parking still a thing?? I can't remember the last time I had to park in such a manner. Out here it's back in, drive out, pull through. Most challenging part is parking this beast parallel to the garage walls. The honda had a camera in the passenger side mirror that would give a good indication how close to the curb one was. In this car it's more by feel[ing].

Unsafe to park on the street - any time there's more than a light shower the street floods. Sometimes over the curb.

When backing in, I go by the blue lines (actual current position of the car), and my tilting mirrors are even more telling. I know where to put the blue line nearest the curb: at the base of it will get me within 8-10", close enough. If I run the blue line up the wall of the curb even a little bit, the separation rapidly becomes less than half a foot, which is too close for comfort to this "Curbinator". :D As I said, the tilting mirrors are my main visual guide once I maneuver with the blue lines to get in close.

No tilting mirrors in gt-line trim. I do have the 2" blindspot mirrors in the outside corners. Those are fantastic. Will try to pay more attention to the blue lines.

I have a 2x4 along the back wall of the garage I use as a reference point. If the rear door handle aligns with it, i'm in the right spot. The rear sonar is nice too. There's several bags of left of shingles along the wall. When the car starts to beep fast i'm in the right place.

I would ten times rather have side view cameras than tilting mirrors.

Gave up worrying about kerb rashes they're never intentional. Did mine whilst reversing during a monsoon lol.
