Stinger wins Best Small Luxury Car award ............

why are you looking to trade the Stinger in?

I would love an M5, but I would need a second car and not be afraid to put a good chunk of $$$ to the side for the inevitable repairs.
Couldn't justify two newer Porsches and new SUV and a new Stinger. Just felt a little over the top. SUV is way more practical than Stinger and Porsches are way more fun. So Stinger got short stick. My wife hated the Stinger. But she's a European car snob. In her mind its either Porsche or bigger practical SUV. But hey hard to argue with a wife who encouraged me to buy a new 911 and wanted Hemi V8 instead of V6 in our dodge. No KIA middle road for her. But she has hated my Japanese cars too. I was really thinking of holding on to the Stinger but it just didn't make sense as it didn't get much better gas mileage than my SUV on my commute. 3 cars for 2 people seems a bit extravagant to me and 4 would just be over the top.

Will say its nice to be in a car that doesn't rattle and squeak like the Kia on bumpy mountain roads I commute on. I also like the DOdge infotainment center better than Kia . But miss the low slung fighter jet like cockpit of the Stinger. Miss that v6 turbo thrust but have to say the Dodge with big V8 and AWD will embarrass most anything off the line.

I just went and checked out a 17 Audi A8 with some kind of weird assed zebra striped wood and a BMW 550i.

The Stinger is tighter, quieter, has the same level of tech. It's faster than the Audi, almost the same size as the BMW. The Audi rattled. The BMWs interior looks like it's from the 90s. Neither of them would be a big enough improvement over the Stinger to justify the extra cost and maintenance.

Someone would have to have really horrible self-esteem/image issues to trade in a Stinger for a badge.

I've also been disappointed by an A6 that reminded me of my 2012 Optima. Next up I'll check out a S6 and see if it feels like it's better built than THE KIA.

Amazing the mindset and blindness exhibited by some(one) on this board.....

I have had a lot of different makes and models through my years of driving. VW, Audi, BMW, Merkur, Mazda, Volvo, Ford, Dodge, GMC, Toyota, Pontiac, etc... all have short comings and positives.

This is my first KIA, which I am not disappointed in. My second choice was an S6 but with the higher MSRP, higher maintenance cost, and less warranty I decided on the STINGER GT2 AWD as my daily driver. Time will tell....

To be honest its your money spend it how you want! People will never agree with every decision you make F them.

No offense but if you think Stinger interior is nicer than 17 A8 don't you kind of disqualify yourself as an objective source here. I get it. You're a Stinger fan but reality for most is that higher end German car interiors are far nicer than a Stinger with all its cheap hard plastics and aux leather look dash. Even objective reviews indicate this when comparing to German cars. So how do you end up thinking German luxury cars are crap? Do you sell Stingers? I think Stinger is very very capable just don't think its approaching anything near full sized German luxury vehicle. Im not much for car brand snobbery but I also appreciate quality. I looked to my stinger as one hell of a bargain and it did lots right just had a hard time thinking it reviled upper end German cars.

I have driven an A8 and Porsche Panamera Turbo and get totally different impression of the level of interiors. Cant really talk to BMW too much but have a hard time thinking 550i is a retro 90s shit box. But you really cant compare a $35K base model Korean car to high end German luxury. Right? However it might be a good thing. ... I mean its sort of perfect that you don't see a difference and think Kia is better right? That's a huge money saver and you seem to be very proud of Kia ownership so it seems to be perfect for you. Why trade it in? You can thumb your nose at guys like me in my crappy Porsche and have great self esteem while your at it. World is what you make of it. :)

I said it rattled, it's slower, and had weird zebra striped wood, and the Kia is tighter. For example, when I closed the Audis door it sounded like a old top load washing machine door being slammed shut.

German luxury cars are crap

Your words not mine.

Even objective reviews indicate this when comparing to German cars

So I'm supposed to ignore my personal experience and assessments in favor of someone else's? No thanks, sheep.

Im not much for car brand snobbery

 You're the damn poster child for snobbery! You remind me of cross between Liz Taylor and Elton John. You're Elton Taylor!

hard time thinking 550i is a retro 90s shit box

Again, your words.

For shiggles, though, should a $95k 2016 BMW interior look dated when compared to a $30k 2016 Kia interior?

Rhetorical question. Your answer doesn't matter. 2016_bmw_5_series_dashboard.webp 2016_kia_optima_107.webp

1. You don't even exist to me outside of this forum.
2. Your words. I may think Porsche vehicles look like Dodge Neons, but you're the one that called it crappy.
3. I never give Porsches a second look. I drive right by the Porsche dealership when I check out the other German vehicles. They're secretary cars to me.

I think what freaks out badge snobs the most is the pragmatic uniqueness of the Kia Stinger: it offers speed, luxury, practicality, great warranty and all at modest price..... they just can't believe this machine is packaged by the creators of the sephia! Lol

i guess you're too busy thinking you're better than everyone here because you drive the poor man's 911, to actually read his post. He said the Stinger is faster, tighter, quieter, and has the same tech as the A8, not that it had a nicer interior. It was the BMW that had the old interior that the Stinger beats, and he's absolutely right. Go check out a 2016 550i, while the interior isn't bad, it is boring and dated. Stinger interior looks better, is more functional, and more sporty.

I've owned a BMW, Audi, and a VW. I rather take the Stinger "cheap plastics" than whatever crap plastic German makers put in their cars that smells like crayons, gets gouged by your freaking fingernails on hot days, and all that piano black they keep putting in their cars that picks up every smudge and will scratch if you look at it sideways. I would also take some "aux leather look dash" over that faux wood they keep slapping everywhere. Know what that faux wood is made of? Plastic.

So please, keep thumbing your nose at us with your far superior interior, with it's cloth seats, and piano black plastic, and essentially an entire dash that's made of up plastic. Really impressive stuff for a German car that cost over 100k.

Just to reiterate, I didn't say there is no area where the Audi or BMW is better.

My point was summed up by the sentence: "Neither of them would be a big enough improvement over the Stinger to justify the extra cost and maintenance."

His blinders caused him to miss that, of course.

So anyway, I just pulled up to the gym and there's an S7 parked nearby. I guess that's a sign. On paper the S7 is probably the car most similar to the Stinger. I'll go check one out later this week.

2016 when my search began the S7 twin V8 450hp was a dream......then the little things....heated and ventilation seats, 360 camera, wireless charging, ......while S7 still is an awesome machine ,there would be very little missing and quite a bit added WHEN I get my Stinger....

Very small postscript ......the Audi doesn't offer electric tilt/telescoping steering wheel....just an FYI for seat position memory function....gotta manually put it your spot....small but significant to me

I've always said my ultimate lotto daily driver would be a RS7. An S7 is a good compromise until I win 50 million bucks.

Then I decided to park on side of the guy at the gym. I'm a lot less impressed. Granted this dudes car is filthy and it's an older model year, but still...Kia has done well.

(correction: it was an A7)

Definitely not impressed with the older ones, but the newer S7s look pretty good. Can definitely see a lot of the styling cues the Stinger incorporated into its design. I still think the Stinger looks better though. The interior is definitely a notch above, without question, and so is the performance and sound. Of course you're looking at more than double the price for similar equipped, it better be a fantastic car. The RS7 would also be my dream family car, will need to rob a few banks first though lol.

bmw needs some serious work in the interior dept. it looks old and unsophisticated in most of them. great cars otherwise but nothing special on the inside. audi is a different story. very nice interiors all around.

Between Porsche, BMW, and Audi, I take Audi no doubt.

Before I had the Stinger, I was at CarMax and checked out a few Panamera's and A/S7s. The Panamera is one car that I love the look of. The Stinger though does quite well as against these rides in power and performance and price, when they are used. The fact that I got mine about what it would have cost to get one of those used and get a warranty lasts a long time and maintenance costs that wont have me wanting to ditch the car after a major service (or before), that a positive for me.
