Stinger weight reduction thread

If anyone is in NC and would like to reduce the weight of their ventilated/heated seats for just heated seats we could work out a swap....

Anyone know if the g70 wheels are lighter?

And here I thought the ventilated seats would be lighter due to the increased number of holes / voids ;)

Reducing unsprung weight will increase acceleration. But hard to feel by the seat of the pants.
I did the opposite on my 2010 Camaro SS, and put 22s on it. Easily added 20lbs a corner. I couldn't sell them fast enough!!! :D

Heavier, bigger wheels are very popular for styling, but they sure aren't performance enhancing. Plus they can overwhelm the brakes. wreck wheel bearings and suspension bushings, etc.

Remove this from the rear subframe for about 4lbs.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Also if u remove the 2 weighted dampeners off the front struts those are probably 2.5lbs a piece.

This is the stinger weight reduction thread... I lost weight off the car lol

With the 2.0 and RWD, I’m as light as I can get. Lol

Folks....Kia did not design it to be light like a race car. It is a GT. Grand touring, Grand Turismo.

I removed the front strut pieces, absolutely no difference when driving. Weighs 900grams total.
Not a huge deal but its better than nothing and its unsprung weight.
The two heavy pieces in the rear shouldn't be removed. It absorbs a lot of vibrations.

Totally agree, the Stinger is what it is.
The only weight reduction I have achieved while maintaining the cars complete functionality was to fit aftermarket wheels.
They are still 19” they are wider @ 8.5” & 9.5” respectively, they are semi forged & weigh only 12kgs (26.4lbs) each instead of approx. 16kgs (35.2lbs) each on OE which equals a weight saving of 4kgs (8.8lbs) per wheel.
16kgs (35.2lbs) doesn’t sound much but it’s a 25% overall weight reduction on the wheels alone & it is certainly makes a difference when driving.

4kg per wheel but you increased the rolling resistance by widening them. You may be at loss in a straight line past a certain speed. But I guess most people won't care. :)
