Ok, I know it's a supercar but get this. While leaving downtown Columbia I stopped at a traffic light next to a new Nardo grey Audi R8 convertible, top down revving engine for the stopped traffic; the sound was amazing of course I was trying to rev back at him, that was a joke. As the light turned and we merged onto 126 after clearing traffic we hit it, my Stinger stayed with him! He did not walk me or gain any on me at all. Started the acceleration around 50mph and he backed off around 140mph; he looked shocked and could tell he was trying to see what kind of car it was. I know he would have beaten me off the line and in pure top end speed but it was cool being able to hang with a supercar for a few seconds.;)

A friend of mine has an R8 and I sometimes ride shotgun so I can tell you, this car is so fast the Stinger feels sluggish compared to it.

I doubt he was foot to the floor. :D

I know. But that is a promo photo OP posted, not actually the one OP had the encounter with.

They'd be pretty easy to identify. Pretty sure the V8 was only offered in the Spyder until 2013 or so. The newer Spyder's look so much more modern than the early gen ones.

There's no way you stayed with him if he put the pedal down. A 2016 does the 1/4 in 10.6 @ 130 mph...the new one's are even faster.

Lol Kamauxx! Ok which one of you is him?
It was a v10. I'm thinking it might also be because it was so new it was still in the break in period and he didn't want to push it or the dude was just chicken

while ill admit V10s are fun I don't regret getting a stinger lol (no I did not have an R8, I had an M6)

Did you sell the M6?? I would love to own one.

I actually traded It for the stinger lol that thing was horrible on gas but I had a eisenmann exhaust and let me tell you laying into it was so fun but also one of the scariest cars I've had myself (I never bothered to install my sons car seat in it as the wife thought it was too loud and we only went out in her car as a family lol)

Yeah the M6 is scary. It goes sideways so easily and the torque is brutal.

The new M5's are equally insane..."Only" a V8 but good grief, 0-60 in 2.8 seconds

To be fair it also has a couple of turbos strapped to it.

True...I was just talking about the V8 vs. V10...speaking of that though, I'm coming from an Ecoboost Mustang into the Stinger, and it's amazing the difference an extra liter in the engine and 2 x tubros vs 1 makes.

He was toying with you to see if he could trick you into going on the Stinger forum to brag about keeping up with a 3500lb 600hp car.

At over 5 times the price and a sh*tload less functionality, even if he walked the Stinger, I think we are doing OK!!

yes but a Audi R8 spyder weighs 160kg more than the coupe. From a roll, the NA engine lacks torque and would feel sluggish if he didn't use all his revs.

So I hung with a 2018 GT3 Porsche from a light through a couple gears and the guy was also shocked. My guess is the owner of the R8 did the same thing as the guy driving the GT3 I ran into did. He probably didn't go full throttle and likely wasn't in an aggressive drive mode, you and I were likely both in sport mode at full throttle.

Your unless you've got a good tune going, your R8 competitor was playing with you to entertain you, and not really trying. I used to play with Mustang GTs and Cobras the same way in my ZR1.
