Tried to search, but couldn't find a thread on point. Did any of you cross-shop the M340i and, if so, what was your Stinger decision primarily based on?

Thanks.

I did look in to BMW , 330i and 340i , on top my mate drives 330i and got to spend a lot of time in and around his car.
Only thing I like about BMW is front face.
Don't like the rear, and I think that has been BMW problem from design point .
Interior is just dull and kinda boring.
Passat I traded in for stinger looked far superior with its Interior compared to BMW

Why Stinger
First it looks amazing in and out
Second price point, so no brainer for me , Stinger wins all the way.
Thats just me

BMW is more powerful, more quality materials, better technology, better handling, better faster transmissionbetter gas mileage and no body will ask you why you spend that much on a bimmer.

on the other hand it cost more, options and packages are confusing and you never seems to get what you want without adding packages that are too expensive. The ride is firm so less of a GT car, also a bit less cargo. You will see many of them on the road everyday ( not m340i but looking the same 330i). Digital cluster take time to get use too.

it is a very good car and the king in performance in the category but cost thousands more to get advanced equipment and safety features . Stinger is sexy, 90% as good but cost 75% of the bimmer.

M340i wasn't on my radar because I have little interest in traditional sedans. If I had gone with a Bimmer instead of the Stinger it would have been a M240i or M2. Oh, and no Android Auto was also a dealbreaker.

The BMW 440i Gran Coupe is more of a match against the Stinger but you have to add the M performance package to get the performance numbers around the same. No question the 440i with m performance package and the m340i are going to be superior in just about every category. But the Stinger offers almost the same performance as the 440i and a little less than the 340i with much of the same tech for ALOT less. Here in Canada you'll pay at least an extra 20k for the 440i but probably more when you start adding packages and options that the Stinger already comes equipped with.

Having recently driven an m340i, I was not happy with the steering feel at all. The G70 and Stinger by far have better steering feel. I will say that the suspension is an edge above on the bimmer but glad I saved the 20k and bought a G70 instead. Overall, I would still make the same choice.

i like bmws because it cost so much to fix. Make a lot of money fixing them. They leak oil and smoke after tail pipe for no reasonE66E41B3-41AF-4FB6-B1F6-1D12BA4ADFB2.webp

I am not aware of the M340i reliability but in general most I6 Turbo BMW are somewhat reliable since the introduction of N55 engine and the new B58 seem to be even better. For long term reliability of the engine and transmisson I would trust more B58 with ZF transmission vs the KIA 3.3 twin turbo. Of course complex cars like BMW and now the Stinger have highier risk to break in the long run so it is better to have a warranty or be ready to pay for expensive fixes.

I is still difficult to judge the Stinger reliability because there is still only a handfull of high millage cars on the road but the 10 year warranty you have in the US (5 year here) help to avoid being afraid by realibility.

The previous gen m340i was an overpriced piece of shit. That was the car that was cross shopped by alot of the members on here. The stinger was a better car overall for much less money. The new one has improved the handling and bumped the power but the price is still ridiculous, the reliability below average and now it comes with a massive snout. I am a BMW owner but I wouldn't buy another one.

German cars usually are good for 5 years before start becoming a money pit. That's why I chose the Stinger and is sexy as f*ck.

Agreed, I owned a VW once. I spent so much money just to keep it running. It had so many electrical issues.

The m340i doesn't come with a massive snout, it uses smaller kidney grills, I think you're confusing it with the new M3.

Nope, never cross-shopped because I'm not interested in BMWs. I see dozens of them a day, and I've had multiple friends with modded ones; I'm just not interested.

Indeed, what makes the Stinger great is that you don't see a ton of them on the roads and that makes it unique. I've always wanted a Mustang GT since I was a kid but there are so many Mustangs, Camaros, and Chargers on the roads. Same with BMWs.

KIA needs to take some notes on the exhaust sound from the m340i sport mode with flaps open sounds soooooo nasty I love it.

That sounds really good. They managed to make it sound like a V8 powered supercar.

It also no longer sounds like that. They toned it completely down for 2021.

European sound rules, I'm guessing. Our car world is getting quite a bit different, year by year. 8< ((
