• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Just thinking about the legalities of my K&N typhoon intakes in my Stinger when travelling between Melbourne and Sydney this Christmas holidays.

I've read online that NSW requires them to be enclosed in a box.

Vic is a little more lax as I believe the only requirement is that they're bolted down.

Anyone from Sydney have open pod intakes and have trouble with police? I feel like the typhoons are semi enclosed so could argue that they are enclosed when the bonnet is shut..

Cheers,
In NSW the intakes have to be enclosed if up high in the engine bay. Quite a few mechanics will fabricate a lid for you. I had to get my WRX done.

So you don't have a Stinger with open intakes and live in NSW?

Cheers,
What's pictured should be enclosed in NSW.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
You mean the typhoon would be considered enclosed? So legal in NSW?

Hi there @basysmith , haven't heard from you almost since we met at The Foodary at Werribee that day with @Flameangel , would you be interested in attending a Great Ocean Rd drive day , if we can get it organised ?

Sorry I meant what is shown would not be classified enclosed. Enclosed means a box around it or at least a top facing shield.

My mechanic said my intakes like yours would not pass police inspection. So he fabricated a 3 sided box.

I might have to make some lids for my trip to Sydney then.

G'day mate, I would be interested but timing is bad for me at the moment especially with Christmas coming up. When were you thinking?

I'd be more interested in a track day to be honest but I know how you like to putt putt lol.. So a nice family day trip down the coast would be nice over the holidays.

Ha...ha, very funny @Flameangel , in that case maybe I should be the lead Stinger of the convoy, and NO tailgating me , and for the record I have never putt putt in my life as you put it, never played golf either..so there.:p:):rofl:

I'd Pm Melissa on the FB group and ask her about putting up a cruise page there. She may say do it yourselves or she may do it. That way you'll reach a wider audience.
Sometimes they give a couple of options for probable dates.

Melissa can stick her FB group. I'm in Tim's Stinger GT Australia group. Post it there.
