My first 2.0 had the high pressure fuel pump replaced. My current 2.0 premium is still going at 3000 miles knock on wood.
Just seen the owners response on The Kia Facebook page. It was her husband's car. The fire started in the rear. Nobody know yet how it started but Kia hasn't been to cooperative.
that's what I figured from the pictures. I'm no expert, but a trunk fire to me screams electrical. I've known a few cars personally to burn to the ground due to crappy aftermarket stereo installs, namely subs/amps in the trunk. If Kia is giving him a hard time on this, I bet there was some aftermarket work back there they're trying to place the blame on.

Where did this "common issue" originate that she looked into? The wiring harness resulted in one reported fire. And now we learn of one rear fuse panel fire. That is hardly "common".

I must have missed that one. I do lookings there often, I'm cheap what can I say. Nothing cheaper then salvage.
The casualties of "war" on the open road! (And one wonders how many were self inflicted through stupidity, with cellphone distraction forming the chief component.)
