I've been doing some research for oil and filer options for my new GT2 and I've had trouble locating the oil filter visually. The manual is supremely unhelpful, just saying to take it to a dealer for any needed change. Without a lift I can't see the underside of the car well enough so I thought I'd ask if the aero panel needs to be pulled off the bottom of the car to access the filter and drain plug or if there is some sort of opening. Anyone get a good look at the underside of their Stinger?

Surprise! It's not a canister filter. It's on the top of the engine under the plastic cover, and you just replace the filter element and gasket, the housing is built into the engine German style. My stinger is still on the boat, but on the first oil change I'll put in a fumoto drain like I did on my Optima and Sorento - worth looking into if it interests you.

I just posted a video on the forum it shows where a how and what to use to do your own oil change.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
One thing I noticed when he drained the oil is the sump plug location makes the oil come out sideways. It’s a Kia issue I had on my Optima and it always mad a huge mess on framework. If you get the car serviced be sure they don’t do it. That also applies to oil filter seating as it will leak if not seated properly. Bad design. Any oil residue will attract dirt build up so make sure they clean it up well. I Made them steam clean it off! They did it too.

Yeah I definitely did a good cleanup before I put it back together. It was a little messy for sure

My post above has incorrect information, and it's too late for me to edit it. I made a bad assumption that the location would be the same as the non turbo lambda-ii 3.3. Sorry about that, I shouldn't have posted based on assumption. I'm really surprised they moved the location, on our Sorento it's super easy and almost no mess.

Hey no worries. When I got ready to film I told the guys remove the top panel and the filter is there. Boy was I wrong
