Stinger Newbie

It's older and has higher miles that the GT1. If you don't mind, why?
I think the additional features of the GT2…
I’ve got the the GT1 and for my advanced age find the features more than sufficient. It’s the engine/transmission that matter to me. I don’t “need” the HUD, 360 view and heated rear seats, etc.
I’m having enough challenges setting the nanny features, Laff Out Lowd…
On the side, I hope Merlin is well… but that is a whole other story…

Please consider these facts:
  • My fastest car was a Volvo 850.
  • My only new car was my current Prius 2015.
    • I know the feature that makes the Stinger special are:
      • It's engine (GT1 and GT2)
      • It's beautiful, and sleek body. (All trims)
Now, here's the within-my-budget-question:
  • Lease a 2023 GT-line AWD.
  • Buy a used 2021 GT1 AWD - 32K miles, $36,000.00. (test-driving Saturday)
  • Buy a used 2019 GT2 AWD - 54K miles, $34,000.00. (test-driving Monday)
These are all available now. What say you?
'21 GT1 AWD IMO... newer and lower milage for a small price increase.. I have not found myself using any safety features of the GT2 (then again, my year's model GT2 was kind of a ripoff cuz it didn't have the 360 view or the heated rear seats)
... plus GT1 gets the good sound system I think as well

it does, until the '22 refresh then it gets the 'factory' nine speakers which is still a good stereo just hot as much 'oomph', if your trying to bring on tinnitus.

Just read the ‘22 brochure, dang that blows! I’m pretty happy with the sound system on mine.. I’m a hip hop guy and it has decent bass

...too late for the tinnitus ;)! But sound is more than adequate for me.

I don't understand the hate by car reviewers against the Stinger GT Line. On paper, it is so much better than the Accord and Camry. What am I missing?

2 cylinders and the second turbo, esp. for the size of the car. Still better mileage, comfort, and amenities than a coal rolling bro truck.

if you have to have raw acceleration instantaneously no matter what no matter when then the 3.3l engine is a must. if you can adapt to a bit more turbo lag the 4-cylinder engine has enough torque to get going plenty quick. I have the 2.0l and it moves out very nicely, there is nothing sluggish or lacking at street speeds. the gt-line 2.5l is better still. the twin scroll turbo has just that bit more lag than the twin turbo 3.3l. I have both. amenities are not a deal breaker to me. the premium I have has more amenities than the gt1. the gt1 and gt2 pre-refresh both have harman kardon sound systems. the premium also. the gt-lines all years have the factory nine-speakers and unless your a total audiophile that should be fine. it looks from your latest post that you really want a new car. if all the quality check boxes are filled by the gt-line it should satisfy for three years. if you have any doubt about turning in the car at lease end, then as I said earlier buy one of the used ones with the bigger engine and fancier sound system and amenities. no doubt you'll enjoy it more for the reasons stated.

I sat in a used 2022 GT2 AWD today. WOW, just wow, and I didn't even test drive it yet. It's so huge, and the Nappa Leather just hugs you. I didn't know I miss the sound of a regular engine until the sales guy remote started the car.

However:
  • The KIA signage/badge is missing from the hood.
    • Not even a scratch or residue to show that it was there.
  • The bumper looked as if it was replaced.
  • kia front.webp
  • 22K miles
  • Too good be true, it usually is?
Will keep you posted.

^^ sounds promising. the debadge in the front is a bennie since it sounds like it was a competent job. the bumper cover is probably just not clipped properly. I think that the gt-line is losing out, sounds like.

wait, how many Stingers do you CURRENTLY have? :)

I think I will get the GT Line AWD 2023. I reckon it's so much better than the Accord and Camry, and my Prius. :)

no question about that and you have the peace of mind knowing the car's history, which only you will make. I took a chance on the 2019 premium. it was a turned in three year lease and a kia cpo. the test drive revealed nothing questionable, it satisfied. a walk around showed nothing, which meant that any attrition to the paint was minor. I've been discovering minor blems and touching them up as time passes. none of them attracted attention at five or six feet away, until I finally noticed them and couldn't unsee them after that. and I just make them look better. so you can get a good used car if the previous owner took good care of it.

Thank you. In addition, the interest rate is so crazy right now. In the meantime, KIA is offering 2.9% for new ones.

I testdrove a 2022 GT2 AWD last night. I have mixed feelings about it. Maybe because I've been driving a hybrid for so long, that I don't really know how a turbo engine sounds or should "feel".

It was definitely fast, responsive, and the brakes were spot on. But, when I'm accelerating, it seems that is a constant vibration under the driver's seat. Is this normal for a Stinger? or any turbo engine for that matter? I've driven V6 Camry and Volvo 850. I didn't experience this vibration.

I tried all modes.

The economy mode is like the engine is gasping for air. The normal mode, well, normal. But the sport mode is absolutely amazing. You really feel that the car is made for that mode only.

Any thoughts? My friend who owns a car dealership was with me during the test-drive and he said, it's all part of the twin turbo engine. He checked everything: the engine, under carriage, oil, etc. The only qualm was the price.

What say you? I want it, but I don't want buyer's remorse. :-(

there should be zero 'vibration' under the seat or anywhere. did you take it extra legal? because that would help show if there is a wheel bent or tires out of balance. you can't tell if this one was modded by previous owner, I suppose. keep looking I suggest. the car that you end up with should call to you and not have you second guessing yourself.

wdym extra legal? sorry, i'm out of touch. I'm having my friend test drive it tonight and let me know. Maybe I should test drive a new one, huh? and compare?
