Stinger GT2 or Genesis G70 Sport?

These G70 threads really seem to bring out the insecurities in some stinger owners. Reminds me of when the new camaro came out and the only thing mustang owners could come up with to defend their cars was "well at least we can see out of it!" Except with Stinger owners it's "well at least we can fit people in the backseat!" LOL

Since that's the only defense, let's blow that out of the water. Here's a pic from Alex on Autos' G70 review; he's 6ft tall, and fits behind himself just fine....

Well, I'm 6'4" and I didn't fit behind myself just fine. Actually, this was a key reason I didn't buy a smaller car and purchased a Stinger instead. There are some of us who frequently use the back seat. Personally, my Stinger gets used for driving colleagues and clients around, transporting my aging relatives, and occasionally my nieces and nephews with car seats. The extra room and space makes a difference.

It is not an insecurity, it is a specification just like headroom, cargo space, mileage, 0-60, etc. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe you are a coupe driver who uses a booster chair? I don't know why you think rear seat space/legroom isn't a real thing for some owners. And for the record, I crossed the Camaro off the list a long time ago because of the poor outward visibility and I have never even owned a Mustang.

Ditto, every word. The G70 is a handsome car but not nearly as practical. I need a large trunk for my art supplies, as well as for our big shopping trips to Costco and Home Depot. We need decent back seat leg room for guests.
For me, the functionality of the hatch back and rear seat leg room was a no-brainer. Rear seat in the G70 is for kids, not adults.

Very entertaining conversation going on here. "Insecurity" assertions are silly when talking about selling points. Nothing could be more personal and aesthetic than selling points when choosing a new car.

OpenRoad Hyundai in Richmond had three G70s on the lot a couple weeks ago, two of which were top spec'd. The G70 is certainly here, but you'll pay way more for the top of the line G70 than the Stinger GT Limited. I agree, the Stinger is just a different kind of car.
He's in the States , they launched in Canada before the US , just like the Stinger
Ah...makes sense.

If the Stinger didn't exist, I would be in a G70 right now. Yes, it's does handle a little better, it's a little lighter, it's a little faster, but according to the numbers it's such an insignificant amount that you aren't going to really notice it daily driving. I would notice having a tiny trunk, the people that ride with me would notice the cramped space in the back. If you don't care about passenger comfort and you don't care about trunk space, go for the G70. If you care about those two things even a little, the Stinger is better.

Both are great cars, very very similar, I would be happy driving either one but the Stinger was the better option for me.

We're going to start seeing new cars in our general price range next year that are better, at least in some aspects, than our cars. This is life, you buy the newest high end gadget and in a year or two there will be better options out there. Thankfully there are mods to bridge any performance gaps ;)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
If the Stinger didn't exist, I'd be in a SRT Charger or an Audi A6 3.0 Premium Plus AWD. The G70 isn't even an option for me to consider as the interior is too small and reviews of the ride quality do not ring of the luxury level I expect.

While the stock G70 is a little lighter and a little faster than the Stinger, I remedied that with my PRESSERTech tune.

I love the spacious feeling within the Stinger. Colleagues or adult family members are comfortable in the back seat for nay length of trip.

The Stinger is super sexy looking from all angles, the G70 just doesn't look nearly as good to me.

With the back seat folded down, I have nearly 41 cubic feet of hauling space.

My GT2 rides like the wind. It is superbly quiet, handles road imperfections with ease, and it is an overall pleasant driving experience.

I would probably take up another Volvo, the 2019 V60, for the looks performance and space.

The main reason for me is that they were not dealing much on the G70, nothing like the Stinger. They do have a $1K Conquest Rebate if you drive one of the other luxury brands BMW/Lexus/Infinity/Merc/Porsche, but they only discounted the top of the line G70 Sport ($53K+) another $700, so total $1,700. Tried to shop around, but noone was coming down below MSRP more than $1K before the $1K Conquest incentive, so that was about $2K below MSRP which wasn't enough for me. You can get the Stinger for way more below MSRP. I also do not like the big grill that much.

It was hard to get anyone to discount the Stinger at this stage of release as well, I wonder if it will have similar manufacturer incentives next year that we had this year.

What made you choose your Stinger over a G70?

For me, to be embarrassingly honest... I didn't know about the G70 Sport, otherwise I'd have one. Someone help cure me of buyer's remorse!

I just bought the Stinger and didn't know about the Genesis G70..but in looking at interior, I definitely like the aeronautical round vents on the Stinger which give it a more sporty look, the hatch back and more leg room as per others who chose the Stinger over the Genesis...so even if I had looked at the Genesis...would have chosen my Stinger ;)

Welcome. That about sums up my sentiments on the practical side of the Stinger. Plus it's better looking. :D

I read about both, never went to look at the Genesis, the stinger beat it imho. And so far I love the stinger. A lot better tech than the Rav4 I had to lemon law back.

Styling and the hatchback made the decision for me.

That and that stupid effing boomerang on the side.

I wouldnt be talking smack about the actually functional boomerang when the stinger comes with fake hood vents :p

Anyways to the OP its all about size, do you want a smaller car or something larger? I cant imagine theres any crossshopping between them once youve decided what size class you need/can fit in your garage

I did not even think about considering the G series from Hyundai. I think its because I did not find their cars very exhilarating from a styling point of view. I continue to look at the Stinger and I see lines of a Maserati Ghibli or Quatraporte. However, I have recently started to notice more G70 Sports on the road and they are growing on me.

That says a lot about Hyundai's advertising failures. Same goes for the Stinger. I'm surprised you've heard of one and not the other since they're often written about together.

Was riding my bike the other day. Saw a G70 with Sport package in red and I thought it looked awesome.
