Stinger GT2 or Genesis G70 Sport?

What made you choose your Stinger over a G70?

For me, to be embarrassingly honest... I didn't know about the G70 Sport, otherwise I'd have one. Someone help cure me of buyer's remorse!

Please don't take it that I'm in any way disappointed with my Stinger! I've been told that the G70 is just a bit tighter, and lighter on its feet. A slightly better driving experience.

I considered the G70, but I absolutely love the GT character of the Stinger. It eats up highway miles in comfort for all inside, has all of the driver tech I need, is plenty fast, and stands out in a crowd. The G70 has nowhere near the rear seat space that the Stinger has and that ultimately drove the decision for me.

The G70 is a great sedan to compete with the 3 series , C class etc ................really tough segment , the Stinger is a a unique animal that is forging a new sub category and looks completely unique with the added benefit of functionality ...............the G70 looks like a "herd wannabe " , you bought the right car (imho)

OpenRoad Hyundai in Richmond had three G70s on the lot a couple weeks ago, two of which were top spec'd. The G70 is certainly here, but you'll pay way more for the top of the line G70 than the Stinger GT Limited. I agree, the Stinger is just a different kind of car.

For me, the functionality of the hatch back and rear seat leg room was a no-brainer. Rear seat in the G70 is for kids, not adults.

OpenRoad Hyundai in Richmond had three G70s on the lot a couple weeks ago, two of which were top spec'd. The G70 is certainly here, but you'll pay way more for the top of the line G70 than the Stinger GT Limited. I agree, the Stinger is just a different kind of car.

He's in the States , they launched in Canada before the US , just like the Stinger

I haven't even bought anything just yet (should be by the end of the month) and I'm leaning more and more towards the Stinger as the days go on. If you asked me two weeks ago I would've said I'd be buying a G70, no question. All the reviews said it's tighter, sportier, and more upscale feeling. But then I started to try to find inventory that matches what I want (3.3T AWD Prestige) and it's near impossible. Combined with there being almost no actual Genesis dealers, and the few that exist don't even know the product to the point that they're telling me ALL G70s come with summer tires, period, even though I show them VINs for cars on their lot with stickers that say All Seasons. So I've pretty much given up on Genesis, largely because they haven't fleshed out their dealer network well enough yet. Plus the more I think about how practical the hatch back is compared to the tiny G70 trunk (10 cuft, same as my current Gen Coupe, yet it's a sedan), and now I'm hearing about how little room there is in the rear seat of the G70, I'm just leaning more towards the Stinger now.

I just tell myself, how much different could the drive really be between the two.

If Cargo space and room for rear passengers matters, the Stinger no doubt.

I can understand not having cargo space, but who would buy a sedan that doesn't have decent rear seat space? With my Gen Coupe at least no one expects to be too comfortable in the back, but they suck it up when needed. With a sedan you kind of expect to be reasonably comfortable, especially since it's not some subcompact car like an Accent.

I never heard about the G70 till weeks after I already had my GT1. The G70 would never have arrested my attention like the Stinger did and does. The G70 is boring to look at. It has no utility advantages, including comfortable rear seating, the hatch (fastback) cargo area, the feel of "long legs" I guess: the gran turismo approach. I hate the grill, trying to be a Lexus look alike. It costs more for no reasons that attract me. It's just "another sporty sedan". It looks like all the others. The Stinger has eye catching unique styling.

And, I was ready for my car now, not a year or whatever from now. I'm sure that some people "fit" into a G70 fine and want the tighter feel and extra bit of performance. For me it's all about the ride: and I get to pass anything I want whenever I want.

The G70 is like a Lexus with that big cowcatcher. Sure it has plenty of nice features but it's FUGLY up front. No two ways about it!!

I bought the Stinger for the looks of the car. And getting it in yellow was also a big deal. No other car at that price was interesting. It is a beautiful exciting look that most cars do not have and right now nobody in the OKC metro has what I have driving around (Stinger GT2 and in yellow). I get looks if you know what I mean.

These G70 threads really seem to bring out the insecurities in some stinger owners. Reminds me of when the new camaro came out and the only thing mustang owners could come up with to defend their cars was "well at least we can see out of it!" Except with Stinger owners it's "well at least we can fit people in the backseat!" LOL

Since that's the only defense, let's blow that out of the water. Here's a pic from Alex on Autos' G70 review; he's 6ft tall, and fits behind himself just fine....

There have been tons of reviews that specifically talk about how people cant get their feet under the front row seats which cause legs to be cramped in the back row of the G70. Let him sit back there for a long trip and see what he says. Just cause that gets pointed out doesn't make one insecure about their choice. That's ridiculous. Comparing cars is just comparing cars.

Having said that, it's still not a good or unique looking vehicle, it still doesn't have the cargo space I wanted and its pricier. Even if you convince yourself there is enough room in the back seat for the poor souls who get stuck their on long drives, it wont change the looks, the lack of cargo space, or the price.

Enjoy getting a G70.

So, Car and Driver, Top Gear, Autoweek, Motor trend and The Drive ALL have issues with the back row room for passengers.


And here's a video where the guy from Edmunds talks about how cramped it is around 4:36. Then shows how little room there is. Then says it's only suitable for children and small adults.

I mean, seriously, are all these reviews from insecure Stinger owners? There's some pretty big name publications telling us about the back row of the G70...
