Stinger GT2 2022 infotainment update file

It must only be the USA because I downloaded the complete file a couple of days ago but I didn't install it.

I just think it is a waste of time

The maps rarely update with these things and just remove functionality for other stuff.

I have the latest dashcam and the software for maps and red light/speed camera locations and voice over is identical to what is in my MY23 Stinger which I have never updated

If it's not broken don't fix it
In order for some of us to get full screen Android Auto, we need to update to latest software.

We can't get software so we basically have a crappy half screen :-)

I can host the file if anyone is willing to provide it.

Thanks to Jsolo. He was able to upload the 44gb file to my one drive. I can pm you the onedrive url I have. I cannot send the links directly on here. Its preventing me. So you will have to add the h t t p s in front of it without spaces.

If there's only 44gb, then something is missing. Total on this end was 47GB.

Again,

I really don't see the need for Android Auto.

USB provides functionality for video and audio. You can put MP3 and MP4 files on the one stick and the Stinger Audio system will pick the files out and play them as USB Video and USB Audio.

Maps are provided by the Kia system. No need for google Maps. Kia SatNav provides Maps, Warnings, Level crossings, Red and speed cameras. wildlife crossing (called roadkill in the settings.......)

Bluetooth provides the phone functions. I see absolutely no need for Andorid Auto in any late model car

For the odd time I have connected Android Auto. I hated it and disconnected it straight away

Totally fine man.

Don't know why you continue to beat the dead horse. No-one's fighting ya, we just don't agree with ya :-)

Do you know if the traffic info is up to date by the minute when using the Nav system in the Kia?

I don't know, but it seems to be pretty contemporary to existing traffic conditions - but probably a little tardy indicating "red" or removing "red". If you see "red" ahead it's probably too late to avoid it anyway.

HD traffic is adequate, but not as good as google/waze.

Ha ha

No its not up to date.

But Google Maps does not show any fixed red light or speed cameras. It's useless.

The car systems always excel on what Android Auto offers. As pointed out. Android Auto (to me) is just some cartoonish inferior system to actual manufacturers car systems. I don't know why people use it. 1758071589463.webp

Where I live, the traffic is pretty awful and Google Maps is really handy for finding alternate routes and Waze does a great job

of pointing those things out that you mentioned Ah. I find that the stock Kia nav is okay and ours was updated with the final update

(I think) at the end of 2024, as the only version I can get is the Canadian update because it's a Canadian Kia. (Weird considering both

nations are on the same continent and I live in the US). I like AA as it syncs with my phone and makes it easy to use the controls on

the steering wheel so you can make calls, using voice control to change music hands free, navigate and take/make calls and texts. This

tech always has its issues and is not quite what it could be and has room to grow. In the end, whatever works for you is best!

I will say . . . the one thing that drives me crazy with all car systems is that it does not display the navigation info in the HUD or dash.

It drives me crazy that I have to use the Kia Nav to get the turn by turn on my HUD. I know the HUD can display other info too, its just that the car companies don't want to integrate that far as it totally removes the reason to get a NAV system in the car. (But I can dream right???)

I will be updating my kia tonight if all goes well. . . . wish me luck!

There always features that car companies hold back so that they can include it in the next model.

Unfortunately Kia cut the Stinger before they could add

Remote Roll down windows

Integrated Android and CarPlay

Integrated dash cams.......

Fill in here..........xxxx

Considering Stinger has 5 cameras, two front, two on the side mirrors, one rear and they are capable of operating all the time it would have taken little to store this information onto an SD Card eliminating the need for a separate dashcam.

Instead I have fitted front and rear dash cams so I have "seven" cameras. The bonus of course is the separate Dash Cam has its own Speed detection, speed red light and averaging camera notifications, school and level crossings so it adds to what the Stinger SatNav provides

Note, when spotted, the rear dash cam really backs drivers off.............I dont know whether they think its a Cop Stinger....note no Cop Stingers were bought in my State.....or they just dont want to get videoed because they are crims........

I'll give you that Google maps doesn't have red light or speed cameras, but I haven't seen the Kia navigation marking speed traps, accidents, objects on the road construction, etc. Granted, being able to add them through Android Auto and not just standalone Google Maps would be nice.

Plus, quite a few roads in my area had the speed limit changed and not one update to Kia reflected this since I got my Stinger. Google maps does.... At least in the US.

That being said, I like both and use both. Both have their purposes.

Side note : Putting this here for users in the future, if you need the update let me know.

Its 47GB, and my upload speed is HORRIBLE, but I can provide it if need be.

Thanks to JSolo!!

Seems other parts of the world are getting the 2Q2025 update now, perhaps US/CA version will drop any day as well¿

If anyone is able to get that update when it comes out, please let us know!!

I'll be updating mine tonight if all goes good with the USB and Hash checks

The My23 Stinger has road sign recognition so in addition to the SatNav speed notifications, passing a temporary speed sign or indeed any speed sign changes the display to the new speed limit.

I've used both the built in nav as well as AA with google maps and waze. And while yeah I agree the maps particularly in waze are cartoonish, I really appreciate the hazard warnings when there's debris in the road or a pothole. It's helped make me a bit more alert to something I just might hit soon. Because of that I've missed hitting a large rock (which I can only assume fell off a truck), a ladder (yes, a whole ladder!), loads of tire debris, and some potholes large enough to destroy a wheel. That's really the only reason I continue to use waze. Besides that, the reason I prefer AA is that I run my own music server. Yes that also means I could use a USB stick but that would also mean I'd have to manage my music in multiple places. Running my own music server I manage my music in one spot, can create playlists in one spot, and I can access it all from a web browser, my phone, home stereo, and the application on my phone. I can make a change on any one of those devices and it'll reflect on all of them.

Also for some really screwy reason right now, I can't even use the built in radio. I hit the radio button and the car ignores me. I hit the option on the touch screen, same thing, nothing happens. I'm guessing it needs a reset (can probably also just flip the switch in the fuse box in the car to off and back on after half an hour or so) but I rarely listen to the radio anyway.

Every drive cycle I utter the words "search settings for forward" to quickly get to and disable forward collision warning. Nine out of 10 times it works right away, occasionally it brings me to the 12/24hr time format consistently until I reboot the car (turn off/back on). Annoying to say the least.

IMO each nav system has its pros/cons. I still won't do a long road trip without my garmin - where else can I preplan a custom route....

I've yet to run into a problem with my FCW system. Maybe mine is just less .... touchy?

I've had fcw activate when least expected. Im lucky I didn't get rear ended.

This has happened several times now. Enough that disabling has become part of the start ritual above.
