Stinger GT Arrivals in Australia

Hi just joined stingerforum.
I ordered a Stinger May last year still waiting on delivery, last update from dealer was no real ETA at the moment.

How is this so ... it is like they do not want to sell them anymore?

I am going to be a liability on the road if I have to wait 12 months. But the prices 2nd hard models are going for is rediculous. Why would you buy 2nd hand when you can buy new for the same money?.....well ...if you could actually get a new one

Strange isn't it when you see SA, WA and NT police forces driving new 330S. How did they get them so quickly and discounted to boot?

Chiming in my current experience. I ordered a GT in September 2021, currently have almost zero information on an ETA.

Dealership stated that they checked the entire country first for my requested spec and were unable to find one, so they're now 'trading' their soonest incoming model with a different dealership for a colour I wanted instead, which ideally will get it here sooner.

Unfortunately still no information on when that may occur, but I did get a call just before New Year's saying that they're hoping to have some good news by end of January, so time will tell.

Placed my order in early July 21, order was only forwarded from the dealer to Kia Australia in December! The reason given was allocation limits.
I was hoping to hear from the dealer with a build date this month, but to my advantage a customer who ordered exactly the same spec months before me pulled out, so his car was offered to me. Lucky break.

Yep. They clearly get prioritised.

I even said I'd accept an alternative colour at this stage but they said won't help. Still no build date. Hope others are having better luck that ordered even before me. Seems pretty random how Kia build them. Must wait for a certain amount of the spec to make them or something.

No Stingers in SAPOL fleet. They're replacing the Commodores mostly with Sorentos, Rav4s and Hybrid Camrys.

Sent enquiry to dealership Mid-September. Received call the next day to discuss specs etc; I was informed that they had a GT due in around November-December (Black, red interior). I very much did not want a red interior, so put in an order for a new one instead. (Panthera Metal, black interior).

Deposit paid, they said the wait time is extremely long (9-12 months), so they offered to do a conditional contract if they could find another dealership to swap their incoming black GT with for a Grey one. Got another call a week later saying country-wide check had found no incoming Panthera Metal cars to trade for any time soon, they asked for some backup choices, so I gave Ceramic Grey and White as the next two. Another week, got a call to advise they'd found one of each to trade for, I believe the original order dates for these two were March 2021 for the white, April for the Ceramic Grey. Went for the grey as my current car is already white, and it has been waiting ever since then, which was around mid October.

I received one more call on New Year's Eve just to let me know that they're still working on it, but no updates yet.

Has anyone on here either received an ETA or taken delivery of a March/April 2021 ordered GT so far? I have my current car lined up to sell while the market is awesome (VF2 SS-V Redline), but I don't want to offload it until I hopefully have an ETA first.

Don't be surprised if you get a call out of the blue from the dealer. People cancel conditions change quite a few have bought that way.

A man can dream...I have to content myself with just driving my parent's GT occasionally when I visit them for now, but I'm sure hoping I get at least an ETA by end of Feb.

Don't know if this will make you feel better, or if it's relevant outside of Canada... I received an email from my dealer that basically said that KIA is only building cars based on orders, and the lead time is 2-8months, so if you are considering a new car come order early, and expect to wait.

This is a Sydney dealer, he said he still has cars on order from Jan/Feb 2021 that have not been supplied so was also puzzled how mine got her quicker. Must be options / colors ... but it definitely sounds like they are ramping up the production. the order backlog must be huge !

I checked the Kia New Zealand website yesterday, 26 Jan 2022. Some new MY22 Stinger GTs have turned up for sale at Kia NZ dealerships. There were none a month ago. I wonder if this is an indication that we may find some coming to OZ soon?
