Stinger GT Arrivals in Australia

I've been advised that my Stinger has been scheduled for production. (I ordered it in early Nov '21). Expected delivery September.
Can anyone advise how long it should take from 'scheduled for production' to delivery. I was hoping it might be here a bit sooner than September.

I guess it's hard to say how long it will be before it gets here. I ordered mine in Jan 2021 and I got it in Feb 2022, and received no production updates or anything through that whole time. Mine has a build date of Jan 2022 so it seems like it took them a year before they even managed to make a start on it.

But as Harlequin says, Stinger production appears to have increased so there's always the chance something might show up before September.

Thanks for those replies. It sounds like, if your experiences, Bluestone and Harlequin, are anything to go by, and the fact that production seems to have been stepped up, then mine could arrive before September. But who knows! I'll keep you posted.

I ordered mine at the end of November 2021 with an expected delivery for July. About 2 weeks ago I also got tolled its now scheduled for production.
The dealer has not given me an actual build date or an updated delivery date yet.

There are either lots of Dealers telling porkies or my Dealer is screwing with me.

I ordered mid October 2022 and was told up to 12 months. A couple of months ago I rang Kia and got my order number. I’ve rung them twice since to check production schedule status but told nothing available yet. How is it that orders placed after mine have scheduled production status? Feeling a bit left out here.

I ordered my GT in mid Jun 2021. Spoke to Kia HQ last week after getting my order number from my dealer and told that it still isn't in production and they don't know when it will be. Best they could tell me was that hopefully I would get in in 3 months time or so.

Judging from my own experience, you may be seeing the effects of order cancellations. I officially ordered mine in September '21, it's now already produced and currently on a ship to Australia (due end of March).

Looking at a snippet I was provided from the dealer's internal web portal, the actual order date for the car is listed as March '21, so someone has likely already ordered this earlier, cancelled, then the dealership has kept the build slot active since it'd be a pretty easy sell regardless, so I've just inherited it now due to the matching specifications. Either that, or they traded build slots with another dealership (this was the original plan, unsure how it all panned out behind the scenes).

I ordered mine mid October 21 like you. Expected July. Last Dealer ETA mine 15April, delivery by end of April. I wouldn't be surprised if yours is on the same shipment.

The way Kia are now following up on the Stinger orders, you'll have it a lot earlier than September.

I also ordered mine mid Sept but it was a cancelled order from March 21. It was built 21st Dec and delivered mid Feb.

If you do take delivery by the end of April you'll only have waited five months since ordering - that's pretty good. It seems wait times might be reducing.

It does seem a bit more promising than it was a couple of months ago. According to Wheels magazine website yesterday, the lastest reports say Stinger production will finish at the end of 2022, to make way for a new electric model. Maybe they are increasing production now to clear the backlog of (very profitable) orders and perhaps build up a supply of cars to sell during 2023. Just guessing.

You’d certainly hope they would fulfil all orders before potentially ceasing production. As you point out, Stinger GTs are not cheap - only the Sorrento Hybrids/PHEVs are more expensive.

Just got another update from my dealer that mt Stinger is now in production.
I hope this means that my car will be here by the end of April but have not got an updated ETA from the dealer just yet.

Have to say, I’m a little suspicious about when my dealer actually placed my order. I put my order through in June 21, and as of last week Kia HQ advised it wasn’t even in production as yet. Seems strange that other orders placed later last year are now being produced and delivered.

Best I can tell is that, at least for orders placed in early-mid 2021, the wait time is roughly 11-12 months unless you manage to slide in on a cancelled order.

Dates on mine are:

My order - Sep '21
Dealer's order - March '21
Build date - Somewhere between 20th Feb-1st March
Arrival - ETA 30th March

He might not have. People have been picking up cancelled orders which the dealer kept as they knew they would still sell it

As person above said, the dealer's order was earlier than mine was, I'm getting a car that the dealership ordered significantly before I actually spoke to them, so presumably it's either a cancellation or just one they ordered to have in stock, not certain on that part.
