Stinger discontinued in 2022

The K5 is a compelling vehicle for someone not looking for anything 'sporty' but wants the bump in power. They certainly nailed the design IMO, attractive and modern.

Month to month it's down but up overall for the year. Hype for the new Optima/K5 might be wearing off, or they're having a tough time keeping enough of them in stock. Either way, it outsells the Soul which surprises me.

They may have had more incentives when it first came out too.

The chip shortage has certainly done some weird things to prices though. This, for example seems like a HORRIBLE deal. I can't imagine paying above new car MSRP for a used vehicle.

I know, bro. I’m sick of this stupid rabble. If I wanted a ubiquitous, common sports car that EVERYBODY owns- I’d still have a Mustang. While I’d certainly have wanted the Stinger to be successful enough to survive, it is, and will always be a niche car. Whether it makes a ton of money for Kia has nothing to do with why I love it. People are cheapskates, that’s why they buy K5’s or Forte’s- it’s not the Stingers fault. Whether it lives or dies, we’ll still have ours- and that’s all that flippin matters. This discontinuation story is non-news! As far as I’m concerned go ahead and discontinue it- I’ll be that much more original on the road!! Just like the Chevlolet Corvair, Pontiac Firebird, the old AMC muscle cars, on and on, the Stinger will always have a fan base, and we’ll still eat most of the pedestrian “successful” garbage that’s on the damn road!
Hey hey.... Some buy the K5GT.

lol that's insane...

funny enough I saw a new K5-GT in person this morning... the quad-exhaust looks good on them if I'm being honest...

For what it is worth - I got my new Stinger GT1 Saturday ... during the signing process I asked the finance manager and he said they are getting 2 more and got notice they will not get any after that because it is getting discontinued early next year. (For what it is worth)

I usually hold onto my cars for awhile but if I was looking at possibly replacing my car it'd be with this. Launch Edition G70. This what they shoulda done with the Scorpion package.

That Sh#t is tight!!

do you have anymore pictures of that g70?

No, it's not my personal pic. I saw that online and I was like WTF? I wasn't a huge fan of the g70 before but with refresh and that matte finish.......I'm in love!

Won't be the first time my platform has been abandoned. Just gives me an excuse to upgrade once the wheels fall off of the Stinger.

A bit ironic... My 2012 G37S was the 2nd to last year before they switched to the Q50 series. In a way, buying last year or 2nd to last is a good thing. One hopes by then most bugs are fixed.

Cnet is reporting, based on a pay-walled article, that but only will the Stinger be discontinued, but so will the Sonata and the K5. Hyundai is refuting this report. Interesting to see if this ends up being accurate.

Glad I found my pristine dream car in time!

Similar article on Jalopnik, focused more on the K5. Stinger mentioned near the end of the article.

Canada got confirmation it will have 2023 models for the Stinger. Australia also seems to be getting them as well.

I think we're getting close to, if not arriving at, the time for them to 'retire' the gas powered Stinger in light of the sport trim EV they have planned taking that nameplate. As previously posted, everyone knows the Stinger is being axed just waiting for the EV with the Stinger name on its trunk lid to be launched.

i've seen several facebook posts from kia sales people with 2023 models coming to the US, some with another "special" appearance package possibly. I'm sure this was the plan all along at least for the stinger to finish up it's lifecycle and move on. The k5/sonata news is a surprise but not unexpected.

They better not pull a Ford.

That's exactly what they're doing, the "Stinger" name is being used for an upcoming performance variant of the EV6 [again, supposedly - no launch announcement yet]. Besides the performance bits, they may make it cosmetically different enough to create some distance between the GT-Line model to justify the cost and 'sporty' classification.

Unfortunately, that seems to be what all the "cool kids" are doing these days. Obviously Dodge is still making sedans. Chevy has what cars left? Malibu is the only midsize car? That car is shit. I have one right now as a rental since my Stinger is currently at the body shop. Camaro will probably be axed soon too.
