Going through the D word that no married guy wants to go through. Bought a Stinger to get away from our SUV that I did not want to commute back and forth to work in. I commute quite a bit and did not want to destroy a 52k car just to commute to work so I bought a 18 Stinger 2.0.

What a fun little car, I did not want another Accord or Altima, I wanted something different so I went with the Stinger. I gotta tell ya, when the market comes back around and my life has calmed down a little bit I might have to look into a twin turbo 6. I have to bring the car in for an oil change this week, I am going to tell them to put a dealer plate on one and let me take it for a ride. Probably shouldn't, I will probably be hooked asap.

the 2.0l has to be a great commuting car. you can back off and go for mpg efficiency and then punch it in a situation and get surprisingly good acceleration. I like to say that the 2.0l punches above its weight. the main difference with the 3.3l (in almost any situation) is that whereas the 3.3l accelerates dramatically almost without effort, the 2.0l can get pretty close to the same acceleration but has to work at it, you just push the pedal more.

I believe it is. and the k5 with different liter capacities. does kia have more than one customizable four banger? the big difference is that liter capacity (hp) coupled with rwd bias changes how the car handles.
Is the 2.0l the same that is in the Optima?

K5/gt does have the dct while stinger has a more traditional trans. It also uses a similar 2.5T as the stinger gtline (2022+). I don't believe any K5 uses a 2.0L engine. There is the 1.6 turbo in lower trims.

No hatch for k5.

I test drove the sonata n line (same drivetrain as k5/gt). Coming from years of driving manuals I didn't find the shift characteristics to be all that 'harsh'.

I was specifically thinking of the 2.0 in the Stinger and the 2.0 in the Optima. Primarily due to the weight advantage the Optima had (not K5).

without looking it up, what is the weight difference between the optima and k5?

They're the same car so the difference is probably insignificant.

*Edit: 24lb difference between top trims.

It's not the same engine. The Stinger 2.0 has slightly higher compression ratio and revs a little higher (or at least has peak power at higher rpm).
The g4kl (longitudinal placement) was only used in the Stinger and the Genesis.
Interestingly, since 2021, in the EU we only get the G70 with the 2.0 and the Stinger with the 3.3. Not sure why.

Here is a funny one for you guys. When I bought the car they told me it was serviced. It wasn't. They made it right today. Here is the kicker, I have not decided if they are just idiots at the dealer or what.

I get there today and I tell my finance guy I want to drive a v6 while they are servicing my car. Guy pulls it up and he says, there's not much gas in it. Don't go far. I say I wont. Hop on the freeway to blast down one exit, just a few miles and I am getting into it, loving it. Get off the exit, over the bridge to hop back on in the other direction. Put my foot in it and nothing. Dead, cross over three lanes and call the dealer and tell them to bring gas.

The shit I have been through the last few months getting divorced. I sat there and laughed the whole time. Like, you cant make this shit up.

I've been on test drives where the fuel light is flashing. Tell the sales person to bring a gas card or can with.

Good that you can laugh about it - Hopefully the pendulum swings the other way soon
