Has anyone replaced the KIA with the Stinger badges? How are they installed? Also, how is the smaller Stinger emblem removed on the rear?

I'm trying to upload pics of my badges. Spinning "S", black chrome - carbon fiber - flying "K", GT, script Stinger, and 3.3 Turbo. No scratches and all front facing painted surfaces including headlights have clear-bra plus full hood and luggage drag surface have clear-bra.

Well I screwed up. Removed the hood badge with no problems and replaced it with an oval Stinger badge. Came out great. Next, planned to replace the trunk KIA badge with the large Stinger chrome script. Here’s where the problems occurred. Guess I got too impatient and didn’t heat up the glue enough, then got too aggressive with the nylon floss and a putty knife. Wound up scratching the paint in several spots pretty badly. So I bought the OEM HiChroma Red replacement paint and clear coat pen, as well as a Fine Line Painting Pen (almost a needle), watched a few how-to videos, and tried to touch it all up. Well, it came out like crap. The color didn’t really match (even though I verified with dealer that it was the correct one), and the paint dried lumpy, even with using the fine artist’s pen. So basically I had no choice but to punt. Scrapped the plan to put the chrome script and instead bought a round K badge just to cover most of the scratches. Still a few minor ones visible though, just to the right of the emblem. For those I only used the clear coat since it didn’t look like they were deep enough to scratch the paint. But they’re still visible. Is it possible to smooth/buff those out without having to repaint the whole rear deck?

ouch! for anyone reading this, please please please use painters tape around the badges when removing, and go slow. Doesn't look bad with the badge on the back, not sure if you can buff out that scratch though.

I had a similar situation, though no scratches from removing the rear badge. Mine was from the OEM KIA badge almost being "pushed" into the paint at the factory. Almost like they installed it before the paint was fully set/cured.

No hope buffing/polishing that out. I found a local body/paint guy and he repainted the rear for $350. Sucked I had to pay it and be without my babe for a few days, but I am much happier about and, and he did a hell of a bang up job. Might be worth it to get a quote or two on what it will cost.

A few pics after the badge was removed, before the re-paint:

And after the re-paint, with the Stinger Script:

If had the paint in aerosol form I would’ve tried to block the area and fill the low spots, sand it, shoot it with spray, clear and then buff with heavy/correcting/polishing compound and see how blended.

If you’d have to get it repainted anyway, worst case is - you’d still need to have it painted.

My rear emblem has a crap area too. It’s not enough to really notice though.

Very good advice. TAKE. YOUR. TIME. Don’t get in a rush like I did. You’ll regret it later.
