Stinger as a Winter Daily Driver

Regarding the block heater, it may depend where each dealer puts it, but mine had the heater cord stuffed between the driver side (left hand drive) headlight and airbox in the engine bay.

Here is the dealer installed factory block heater plug. Actual cord is in a box in my garage.

Thanks for posting. Definitely don't have that on my car, as I didn't order any optional dealer accessories when it was purchased.

I did have the KIA parts department pull out the accessory block heater to look at it on a subsequent visit, and it was a DEFA unit that adhered to the crankcase. Not the 'old school' heating element type that fit into a frost plug knockout in the block, which can't be used on these engines.

Between the normal winter temperatures we get around here and the full synthetic oil in the engine, I don't mind if the car has the occasional cold start. Block heater equipped or not, I haven't plugged a vehicle of mine in for years.

Totally agree. Which is why I mentioned that the cord has been in a box and never used. The car was on the lot and it had the accessory installed already.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I was like that for my past two vehicles, but decided to treat the Stinger a little nicer when the overnight temp was getting to the -35 range. It's bad enough that it has to live outdoors in those temperatures, figured I could at least warm the oil a bit before remote starting it.

See if I didnt have a garage, I would probably drive a beater.

Hey, I have that too! Mine is centred though, so it's extra hidden. Of course, it makes it that much difficult to plug in, especially if I've driven up to a snow bank.

It's my first winter with the Stinger, and honestly, while the car's been an absolute legend on the All Seasons that came with it, I fully intend to get winter tyres.
