Hi Stinger fam,

I feel so stupid, but I guess I let my friend test drive my car and as he was backing up a tight compact parking, he accidentally hit the left side rear view mirror against those cement poles in the basement parking structure. Gah! I just got the car 4 months ago too :/

Anyways, I have a 2018 Kia Stinger GT2, looking at the pictures, it looks like the light reflector is cracked and the interior of the casing.

Does anyone know the part numbers and if they sell just these parts? Or would I have to replace the entire housing? I was also thinking of buying a GT mirror I saw on eBay to retrofit but not sure if it would work for GT2? Any suggestions for the most economical way to fix?

Thanks I was able to look at that site and don’t think they sell the interior black casing only. They do sell the led reflector which I need.

I was able to find out today by taking it apart. Looks like if I can’t find the black interior housing I might be able to just buy any Kia stinger and take that’s black piece and swap it with mine.

Here’s some pic after I took it apart and eproxy the broken pieces. I would still want to replace the led reflector and the housing cause I can’t stand looking at the damage lol

This is the piece I was referring to. I can’t find it anywhere online or eBay. Not sure if Kia sells it by itself. Anyone know the part number? I couldn’t find it on mine.

Have you tried scrap yards? Unfortunately, we have seen Stingers being sent there..

Not yet. I have checked car-parts.com I guess are linked to some junk yards. I’ll look at some local ones around me in Los Angeles too. But trying to see if it cheaper to just replace 2 parts except buying the entire left rear side mirror assembly

Rule 1
Don't let anyone else drive your Stinger
Rule 2
Refer to rule 1

Didn’t your friend offer to pay for a full replacement?

I’d be finding a new friend along with the new mirror.:p

That being said at least as a 2018 US model you don’t have to worry about replacing the camera as well. I’m guessing the replacement costs for those with 360° cameras will be ridiculously high.

I'm speechless. But I completely agree on the "can't ignore it" aspect. No matter how functional the home repair, the outer damage would haunt my sleep.

Cheapest way to fix it would be to make your idiot friend write a cheque. Then you should look in the mirror and slap yourself for letting your idiot friend "test drive" your Stinger.

Did you ever buy the parts? The exact same thing happened to me (parking garage, cement pole) except it was my husband so i can't find a new one of those :) Based on the parts sheet it looks like the main unit needs to be replaced if the rim around the mirror (not the shell) is damaged :(. Did you have luck with ebay or a scrap yard?

Yes I actually had to purchase the whole left sided mirror. I don't think Kia sells that part by itself but I never asked. I did what you did and looked at the parts sheet.

If it's just the black interior piece of the mirror, i realized you can buy any model of the stinger and just take that part. Don't look for GT2 models because due to the 360 camera, blindspot, automated, etc. New one costs $1k! I found a OEM GT model replacement on offer up for $150 shipped.

Cheapest i ever found. I seen some on eBay too but you're looking close to $450 shipped.

Awesome, thank you! $150 sounds much better than $450-500.
