Still smell coolant 3.5 months after owning the Stinger.

No leaks, no overheating. Just a strong coolant smell pretty regularly, mostly when I've been running the car hard. Dealer said they didn't notice anything wrong. I saw this issue with the Genesis G70 I believe on forums, but nobody else seems to be experiencing it with the Stingers? On that Genesis I believe it just went away after a month or two.

Edit: I found others with issues on it.

If there's no leaks, no milky oil, and your coolant level is not dropping, then I wouldn't worry about it. Probably just vapors getting out of the overflow reservoir somehow.
 
Mine smelled like coolant after 16 months of ownership, yet there are no visible leaks or any loss seen in the overflow tank. I concur with just a stinky venting system.

I've owned mine about a month now and last night was the first time I smelled it. Just a quick trip to pick up my daughter at school and we could smell it when we got out. No visible leaking.
 
I've had the same smell in my G70. I first noticed it maybe like a month or two after buying it. I've spent hours sniffing around the engine bay, day after day, and even peeking underneath. I even have a little endoscope and looked around the thermostat on the backside of the engine (passenger side), and I have not seen any coolant leaking anywhere. Coolant level has stayed solid the entire time as well.

Even still, every now and again I pop open the hood when smelling the coolant smell after an aggressive drive, and just inspect all the coolant lines around the turbos and radiator. It's a really unsettling smell, as I've never owned a car that gives off a coolant smell like this before. I really smells like it's leaking; but, I've never found any evidence of a leak.

It’s the breather system for the Coolant. Nothing to worry about. I had to genesis r specs that did the same thing. I’ve had my stinger for over 1.5 years still get a smell here and there. More when the cars been driven hard. Zero coolant loss.

I already explained it here and many people said this is the cause and has an easy solution.
Map 5 JB4 runs amazing on the Stinger.
 
Sounds crazy but is it after using the windshield wipers & fluid?

Hmm.... I've disconnected and reconnected the throttle body coolant lines when I was swapping my passenger side turbo. There were no leaks there, nor does it make sense to me that you'd be able to smell the coolant from that line. It just circulates through the bottom of the TB and doesn't vent anything in there. It's only used to warm up the TB during extremely cold environments to prevent throttle plate sticking (can happen with extremely cold, humid, air flowing very quickly, sometimes it can form ice crystals around the throttle plate and keep it open - though this is MUCH less likely with our cars since they're turbo'd).

Despite this, I still think it's worthwhile to bypass it anyway. Even so, I suppose my reasoning behind why I don't think it would work doesn't really matter, as it's about the evidence that matters.

You may have convinced me to try it just to see if it will make that smell go away, and if it doesn't, I may as well keep it anyway for the tiny IAT benefit.

My understanding is that when the coolant runs through the throttle body it can cause the smell. Not sure if it only happens when the engine/coolant is hot and the air temp is under 60, but that’s the only time I noticed it myself and when most people complain about it.

I agree and was told it does drop IATs especially when it’s cool outside. I may try it myself too and couldn’t hurt since I’m in SFL and our winters don’t get any lower than 40s.:thumbup:

I too smelled coolant and heard gurgling from passenger side before all this happened.
