Still trying to make this shift over to the stinger family and leave behind the vr30 q50 fam. With that being said at this time I’m still looking into the best possible price for my current vehicle, 2016 q50 red sport awd. I’ve been searching a lot these past days for USED gt trim options and I’m not looking to go over $36,000. I’ve seen multiple gt options below $36,000 but I’ve also came across the gt line trim for lesser . My question to the stinger community is should I go for the gt line trim or the gt trim and gt1 and gt2 trims. I definitely want that base performance of 365 hp but I was wondering for the people who purchased the gt line trim when you modified your vehicle with performance upgrades would the gt line trim be equivalent to the gt trim, gt1, and gt2 ? I know with the q50 red sport it comes from the factory with the sharpened suspension and about 369 wot. When you modify a q50 sport they come from the factory heavily detuned so when you put upgrades on it it has a lot of room for performance upgrades to reach the red sport level and pass it . Is it the same with the gt line trim ?

if you want the GT, get the GT or you'll be wishing you did. especially if you're coming from a car with similar power. I test drove both when I bought mine, and there was no question which one I wanted after that.

The GT line will never be a GT. Sure you can modify it for more power, but then you're putting more strain on that little 4cyl. And you could also modify the GT to be far ahead of anywhere you could modify the GT line to. You know what you want. Just spend the money.

You right bro lol I do want the gt or better and I’ll definitely pay. I can’t imagine wishing I chose a different trim smh .

Pre 2022 gtlines were 2.0 liter turbo's, 2022 they introduced the 2.5 liter turbo. What's the difference you ask?

2021 and older 255 hp, 260 lb ft torque
2022 300 hp, 311 lb ft torque

45 Hp, and 51 lb ft torque is the difference. I'd say that's a bit more than a marginal increase. Better mpg with the 4 cyl than 6 esp city driving. If you're used to driving with your foot in the throttle, skip the 4's.

What's wrong with you q50 ?

I like to drive with my foot on pedal so I get it lol. Nothing is actually wrong with my q50 red sport just had my fair share of bad experiences with the car and I’m totally fed up with customer service at the Infiniti dealership. I’ve stayed on top of my basic maintenance yet I can’t catch a break and the parts are not cheap at all. I figured I can still have that fun with that power with the stinger which is a hell of a lot cheaper maintenance wise.

Do you wish you had gone for the gt trim as opposed to the gt line

Not particularly. We have too much traffic & lights to be able to go fast quickly. Around town I drive with an egg between my foot and throttle. Occasionally head out to the country where I can open it up. Sadly these trips are few and far between to justify the higher up front price, higher insurance (possibly), and poor mpg. A decade ago when I got the G, I would have never settled for a 4 cyl. Today, older, wiser, more realistic about my wants. Today got the car to 5Krpm from a rolling start. Probably 3/4 throttle. Plenty fast for my needs.

It's no slug by any measure, even seem faster than my '12 G37S was (torque comes on sooner). Never drove the Q50S RS 400. Judging by dyno charts and 0-60, 1/4mi times, its definitely faster than the g37 was. The GT might just be the right car for you.

You should test drive both back to back to make your own determination.
