I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I noticed that there are two different steering wheels in the promo photos of the Stinger GT. Most photos have a nice but standard steering wheel (I think the same as in my 2017 Sorento), but some (like on the CNet review) feature a flat-bottomed sport wheel. This racing type steering wheel is much more appealing, and I was curious if it has been determined if it would be used in the production vehicle, or perhaps appearing on a certain trim?

I asked myself the same question some time ago, and then I looked at the time line of the various published photos:
I found, that the promotional pictures coinciding with the introduction of the Stinger at the various auto shows nearly a year ago showed the car with a round steering wheel, more recent pictures and videos from Korea, Frankfurt (comparison of Audi A5 to the Stinger) or the Nürburgring depict the interior with the "flattended" steering wheel, sometimes even with the "E" insignia.
Considering the Stinger's perceived competition and what their interior looks like, I am 100% sure, it's going to be flat one. I think you have no reason to worry. Cheers.

It is a trim level item. The non-GT Stingers will have the standard round steering wheel. The GT's will be equipped with a flat-bottom steering wheel that has the GT logo (the only GT logo on the whole car).

I am also interested to see if the cup holders will have a cover or not. Any speculation there?

I had noticed the cup holders as well, wondered about that. For that matter I wonder if that chocolate color dash will make it to production. It is quite stunning.

My speculation goes towards the cover, Schreyer & Co. would not produce the cupholder without a cover; it would give the cockpit an unfinished look.

Cars released in the KDM have covered cup holders.. The vehicles used for the Nürburgring test drive also had covered cup holders. I would say we are trending towards covered cup holders.....

It is a production option in Korea but it looks like it will not be an option in Australia. It appears Kia is still mulling it over for the US market (sending out surveys, etc.).

2.0 GT Line gets black Cover for the cupholders.
3.3 GT gets Silver Cover for the Cupholders.
The same color as the Center console...

Do you know if the plastic bottom part with the "GT" on it can be removed?

Why would you want to remove that? It's the best part of the wheel! (well except for it being D-shape)
