Steering wheel slippery

Mine says turn here and never says which way until I'm passed the turn
Exactly the same result. Actually it goes like this: we are on top of the turn and she says "you want to turn here". And zip on by we go and I say, "Turn left back there!" This is to remind her that she needs to give me a heads up before the turn comes. Nothing has changed in over forty years. It is one of our standing jokes.

I've never experienced a slippery steering wheel. Sorry, OP, for derailing your appeal for help so early. :P

This will never pass the wife test I just dropped $1,000 on pothole repairs.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe tell her it was because the steering wheel is so slippery, you couldn’t avoid the pothole.

It’s so grippy and comfy that I eventually ordered the alcantara gear shifter as well! You won’t regret it!
Totally agree. It is like a velvet glove in the winter with the heated steering wheel function... and in the summer, even if the cars been in direct sun, you aren’t burning your hands in the wheel.

I also added the shift cover and armrest.

Wish they had door armrest replacements as well.

Maybe some day I’ll have a shop do that.

How much work is it to swap the steering wheel for the Alcantara version? I have noticed my hands getting tired at times, more frequently than with my '05 LGT.

Maybe an hour or 2. I took my time as I didn’t have any real instructions and mapped each screw removed. Photos. Etc.

Again, if something doesn’t come out easy... likely a screw holding it.

It isn’t complicated.

Now, on a more serious note...
On the leather wrapped steering wheel of the cars that I have had in the last 20+ years, I’ve had satisfactory results in more rational ‘old school ‘ approach. Keep the leather soft and supple. If you really care for your car, inside and out, one usually applies products to protect/preserve/enhance the appearance and durability of those surfaces. When I first got my Stinger, I got out my Griot’s leather protectant and got on a pair of nitrile gloves and proceeded to apply it to not only the seating surfaces (front and back), but also to the steering wheel. It was October when I got the car, so cool-ish outside, so to soften the leather and open it’s pores, I judiciously applied some warmth with my heat gun (or a hair dryer) to allow the absorption of the lotion. Let it sit for a period of time, and buff off with a soft towel. It will have a slight tacky feel that I find acceptable. If too tacky? Just buff more.
Hope u find this helpful.

Hi @Old Timer What you lack in post count (you joined the day before I bought my car!:D), you more than make up for in content. Thanks for the tip. I'll think about treating at least the steering wheel. The last thing I need is a feeling of dryness. I want the leather to remain supple for the duration.

You are more than welcome. I’d suggest u leave your car in the heat of the sun before applying, as the leather pores are more receptive to the solution, and will absorb it more readily.

Try more syrup on the pancakes in the morning?
