Started my rebadging project

If you're referring to the badges below - that's not an official Kia design. That's just something that some guy on the internet made up...

I thought it was an older official logo? Sigh.

You're thinking of the "Vintage K" - which is...

Sal,

I think my confusion is because the Store uses the term “KLexus” for both the created one and the vintage one. I’d suggest separating the not OEM design to the KLexus name and the original vintage ones to the Kia name. I was almost heart broken, I thought I bought fantasy badges, for a good deal of money, that weren’t actual Kia emblems. Not my intention for that at all. It’s confusing in the Store now, the way it is currently.

I hear ya. Sorry for that temporary heart break! But at least it was only temporary. The cheaper, non-OEM style version is going away soon. As soon as I'm sold out, that's it. So they'll be leaving the store entirely...

Yes i know its not official. Im just trying to figure out what it is supposed to be. Many people reference Lexus inspiration, I reference Kumho.

View attachment 8816 This may be my last interior mod and near the last one for now. Waiting on a front license plate frame. Got the kit on Ebay and the instructions were in Korean and the pictures really didn’t help. I just did the best I could figure with the included 3M tape rectangles and what appears to be Lexan spacer blocks. The did stick but if you press hard on them you can tell they don’t lay flat. Still, they fit snug to the shape and look much nicer than the black plastic.
This is the passenger front door. The kit has all four.

And it lasted all of one day. I had to park my car on the street for plumbing being done in the building garage. Well, it’s warm and sunny today and it was getting the afternoon sun. Plumbing done went to bring in the car. When I closed the door the thing flew off the door. The 3M tape let go. Even though I kept pressure on it I’m thinking it’s not setting up. It came off clean and didn’t land tape down. So I’m giving it another shot. Held it in place again. I tested the other three and the seem to be holding but not holding out hope if I take the car to Vegas.

Te ones i got look exactly the same but didn't come with 3m tape...came with some white foam double sided tape on the back of them. Needless to say they didn't stick too well, kept coming off and rattling. got some 3m and put it on with that and haven't ad them come off since.

Well I updated my posts. They’re falling off and it was 3M tape.

I used the same tape I used for my rear spoiler...it was the 3m tape for automotive trim.

I just ordered a roll on Amazon. I’m going to redo them all with VHB tape. I got 1” x 9’ in case anything decides to fall off. LOL. Here’s some shots of the back side of the ornament. The original tape was white with red 3M all precut rectangles.
One of them I already peeled off the tape. The blocks had thin tape on one side. They don’t seem to want to go anywhere. The tape was well stuck to the metal too. I wonder if any tape will stick to the door as it’s textured.

I’m wrong the door is smooth here. Why wouldn’t it stick? Hope the new roll works out better.

This also had spacer blocks. Enough for two on each. I was stupid and didn’t take a before shot of the kit. I’ll report if they fall off, it was 3M cushioned double sided tape and the blocks had solid tape on one side to stick to the back of the plate. I wish it was premounted so I had the correct mounting position done. I did a best guess. It’s Ebay you takes your chances. The plates look and feel nice, brushed aluminum and etched lettering.

See my original post above. Do not buy this.
I bought a set in black, they are not curved and don’t fit well, gaps around edges too, ended up not using them. The seller should be able to do a better job for fit, maybe charge a bit more for better fit.

Did they stick or did they fall off? White 3M tape? Clear blocks for spacing?

I got the black ones with the spacers. The first set I ordered, with no spacers, did not fit at all. Ordered the black ones from a different vendor and they fit perfectly. I put the spacers on then slowly built up on top of the spacers with electrical tape till they fit flush with no gaps. Then smeared Gorilla glue around the edges to hold all together. I used these tape stickers that are used to mount the Blackvue dashcam. Much better than 3m VHB tape. When spacing, allow for the thickness of the tape stickers also. With these tape stickers, my problem will be removing them (if I decide to change them for something different) instead of them falling off.:DScreenshot_20180621-183757_Chrome.webp

Thanks I may try that too. I like the look if they can stay put.

Nice!

I must of got a bad set

Mine showed a slight gap, too. It’s all about the perfect placement of the blocks and no exact instructions. I think black shows less errors than the bare metal color does also.
