I would really appreciate it if you would illustrate my ignorance about this escape system issue.
I like a lot the SSR performance axleback (mufflers deleted) + downpipes sound.
What are the differences with a catback system besides the sound?...I suppose the secondary catalysts are not deleted?
The price between the SSR system and that of a cat back is very close to each other, so in this tenor, why choose the first one?
Thanks for take your time in answering me.
The downpipe has a severe restriction in two places. First is the catalyst, second is the 2" outside diameter.
The axle back has another two restrictions. First is the mufflers but the second is a huge crimp that they put in the pipe.
In the end, the mid-pipe is the least restrictive part of the exhaust. So performance wise doing the SSR downpipes and axleback should get you more HP for the buck compared to spending the same amount on a cat back. Plus you can do them at separate times making it easier to get through the finance office / accountant / wife.
And SSR is going to do a midpipe at some point as well to make the entire system 2-1/2" @SSR Performance correct me if any of this is wrong.
Note: these are not my pics, I grabbed them off of FB from a member I was conversing with.
The only question is in a state that uses a tailpipe emissions sniffer.
Otherwise I agree, no issues. There is still a primary cat there so it will pass a visual emissions inspection as well as no CEL from the pipes.

I can comment on that i dont know how they do things on texas on Illinois you would be fine. You would pass visual and as long the CEL is not on you are golden.
