I've watched some of the quick install vids on YouTube as well as Tork's method of removing the intake manifold. For me, I can only see the quick method going wrong and my flinging something important into a random garage wall. I've replaced head gaskets before (though on a 4 cylinder) so I feel more comfortable doing it the Tork way.

But... what about a hybrid of the two methods. Has anyone loosened the intake manifold bolts to almost off and then moved it up vertically to get more vertical room to get at those 2 pesky ones on the passenger side? Just wondering, from anyone who has done either method, if this makes sense to save some time and potential issues with putting everything back together after the Tork method. Do you think the extra inch or so (complete guess) vertical clearance would make the quick install significantly easier? Or if I am going that far, is it just easier to move everything aside enough to remove the manifold.

Since I am willing to do it the Tork way, I am willing to try this hybrid and report back.

Watching the Tork video again (up to the 16 min mark), it seems there's enough going on with bolts and brackets that it all probably just needs to come off.

Removing intake manifold on stinger is a 20 min job.

I don’t like the idea of removing the intake manifold. Might mess up the seal.

I tried both methods. If you have the right tools and do it slowly, the method without removing the intake manifold becomes quite easy, I did it twice already.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Legit 20 min job. Im actually changing mine today. I should time lapse it to show how easy it is. I use one swivel attached to the plug socket. then a short extension before the swivel. Its super easy.

This all you need. I didn't do a video but just swapped my plugs out. Total time was 18 mins 17 seconds.

I did it that way :)

Also, the key trick to cylinder 3 coil is to seperate it in two pieces to take it out.

I get nervous about stripping threads (assuming aluminum) when putting new plugs in since the consequences are big even though the odds of doing so are low each time. I always use the socket an extension and light finger work to make sure each start right before I think about putting the socket wrench on. Using a swivel on a blind angle would scare the crap out of me.

How confident a sense do you get with the quick method on starting the threads of the new plug?

in 25 years of biulding cars I have never stripped spark plug thread. Almost impossible doing it by hand. If you took a impact to it maybe.

Awesome, thanks.
