spam alert

not sure if anybody else has posted or noticed this, but in the 20 minutes i have been on, i have deleted 6 spam messages. 2 were russian, the rest were telling me of hot young girls. you know that you have an up and coming forum when you get hit with spam that much in such a short amount of time.

A few days back I was seeing a massive amount of posts on this forum, in Chinese characters, that Google translate was telling me were for purchasing fake diplomas. I notified the admin, added the two users to my ignore list and haven't seen anything since.

Yup, I asked Sal about it and he said this site gets hit constantly now, but that the filters don't catch everything. I'd hate to see what this forum would be like without the filters in place!

Most of what gets through are guest posts that need approval - so non-moderators do not see them. They're signified by a blue "badge" being next to the subject in the new topic list. The spam filter does catch a lot - but not everything. It needs constant fine tuning...
