Since this is more of an observation thread after some recent mods, I figured I would post in here...hopefully this is acceptable.

So I've had the car for about 10 months with it mostly sitting in the garage due to 1) not my daily driver (yet) and 2) been working from home since I bought the car. Obviously participating in this forum and FB groups gets the creative juices flowing on how to make this car special to me. As you can see from my signature got a mix of mods of show, go and stop....another words I've spent a decent amount on the car personalizing it. So with that said here are some observations of mine with the goodies I've got:

1) The car straight from the factory is a rocket ship in of itself. Great acceleration with comfort and style...enough said
2) Adding the Eibach Pro Plus really awakened the car from a handling perspective. The lower center of gravity and stability in the corners made for a fun, exciting adventure when entering and exiting the freeway. I now have a great excuse to find the clover leaf's on the freeway. If you are on the fence or considering this, I would highly recommend it.
3) Finally adding the Lap3 Uncle Chip took this vehicle to the next level. The responsiveness with the throttle and acceleration are just jaw dropping. The one down side with this, and I imagine with some of the other systems, is with the added horsepower from the engine it is very easy to get the back end loose. Just a little flick of your toe on the pedal and the car is ready to leap. Something I feel I'll need to adjust too as I can be a little heavy footed when cornering as I really like to accelerate...hard, out of a corner. To be honest, I was not expecting this level of responsiveness or acceleration from this simple modification.

Over all would I do it again....early indications are yes. Time will tell, and driving the car more, if I will stick with the Lap3. I am concerned with the maintenance of the plugs (still can't get a straight answer as to how often to change them now) and any other issues that may creep up. But for now with the modifications the car has been awakened, lively and really wants to be unleashed!

I am curious; you took a new $50k car and modified the computer by yourself to get more power? Aren't you worried about blowing up the engine and having no warranty?

It’s piggyback tune. Doubt he’s gonna blow up his engine.

Yeah its a piggyback. Not a full reprogram of the ECU.

what does piggyback mean? Where does it go? You mean it's easy to remove if the engine blows up lol?

A piggyback chip plugs between the connector on the ecu and the wiring harness that plugs into the ecu connector.

It intercepts inputs/outputs and modifies them to increase power according to its Maps.

They can be easily removed should you need to take your car into a dealer and plugged back in after you home.

The main advantage is they are supposed to be undetectable once removed.

The main disadvantage is they contain set Maps which are not customised to your mods.

1 - Solid observations.

2 - I find the car stock (at least for me) with more than enough power that I need to use on the road... at least for now. ;)

3 - I have come across rumors and threads in other forum groups stating that piggyback tunes, although more difficult to catch, are still picked up by the dealership and used to deny warranty claims on specific powertrain failures.

4 - Don't worry about the mileage. I have had my vehicle for almost a full year now (about three days short of 365) and have put on about 6000 miles.

5 - Is your vehicle RWD?

People tune quarter-million dollar cars all the time. As long as the tune is safe there's no reason not to do it.
