3.3TT SOLVED: New JB4 install, makes no performance difference at all

I can’t update my firmware. Every time I try it says that it is failing. I am following your instructional video exactly as it says how to, with the vehicle ignition turned on and engine off, connected to the JB4, and went to the update firmware section, selected the Stable version for the Kia, and click update. It goes till about 20/309 and says it fails, repeatedly, then ends all together.

I am stuck without a functioning device and had to unplug the device and re plug in the stock ports to get home. This kind of stuff is ridiculous. I’ve had so many issues with the JB4 and the unsatisfactory support that I have been given, not to mention the fact that I had to scour the internet looking for updated information on how the new JB4 works vs the old one. You guys really need to have a better installation guide and make it much easier to find and understand. Not even including any sort of visual instructional guide in the box of a product is unheard of. This isn’t the kind of product nor product support I expect in a $700 product.

Please help me with getting this fixed as soon as possible
I agree directions aren't that great in the box ,but I beleive they refer you to online instructions. Do you have internet? Install really isn't that hard, and in MY personal experience customer service was great. As for firmware update yes very confusing , but after doing it not that bad. I think once you click on the update firmware it should link directly to versions for our car. Hope you get everything worked out map 2 is a very noticable BOOOOST.

Yeah after doing the install looking back at it, it’s not that it’s difficult, it’s just with anything to do with a car, things are very specific, and I wanted to make sure I did everything the correct way. It’s just ridiculous the lack of explanation out of the box how much you have to go out of your own way going through different forums and finding unlisted YouTube videos it’s such a pain in the ass. It should have a much more obvious way of finding how to exactly installing it and the fuel wires. I haven’t really noticed that huge of a difference. On my drive back home I was running purely stock and if felt slightly less powerful, but not that different to be honest.

And after thouroughly explaining my problem of not noticing a difference, all “Terry” tells me to do is update my firmware, and i can’t update my firmware for an unknown reason. I hope you understand my frustration.

If you're posting here for help that is probably your first mistake as we don't regularly monitor this forum. It's more of a user on user assistance forum. If you need our help email support@burgertuning.com for real time technical support.

The directions including a video on how to update firmware is included in the first post: Kia & Hyundai JB4 - N54Tech.com - International Turbo Racing Discussion

Directions for what to do if a firmware update fails would be detailed in the JB4 Mobile FAQ: https://jb4connectkit.com/troubleshooting/

Basically, raise timeout to 25, turn off Wifi on the phone, and hold set phone close to the JB4 box under the hood. Also make sure the blue tooth adapter is not zip-tied to the metal enclosure as that can reduce range dramatically.

Thank you for getting back to me. The tips you suggested helped and the system has been updated. In the future, please try and make it more obvious as to where to go when you get the failed error, like maybe put the link you sent (https://jb4connectkit.com/troubleshooting/) when the update fails.

There is a large app revision pending that will make things like that more clear.
