Snow tires + AWD?

all seasons suck in all seasons. don't do it. buy the proper tires for the conditions. summer tires for summer. winter tires for winter.
proper tires are cheaper than damages and an insurance premium hike.

My two cents worth. (living in NE wisconsin, Sturgeon Bay)

I have notkian Hakappelletas R2 on my wife's Mini Cooper. They are the best snow/ice tire I have ever used.

I had Michelin XIce3 on my BMW. They were as good as the nokian, except for high speed ice (over 45 mph on ice). For some reason the XIce 3 get a little squishy or squirrely on fast ice. Made me nervous.

This year I am trying the Continetal VikingContact7 on my GT2 AWD. 18-inch square. Still unmounted in the garage and waiting for winter. I should know if I like them in a month or two. Winter tires make winter fun.

Well, look at where you have to drive? I wouldn't even think of an A/S tire up there either. But I don't think that winter driving is FUN at all. I endure and count the days. Glad I don't live where winters are looong.

What sizes are everyone running for a winter tire/wheel setup?

Consensus seems to be 18x8 square. I'm on Tire Rack now looking at most 18x8 rims are a +40 offset which says it'll fit and clear the Brembos.

Recommended tire size seems to be 225/45/18 but since I have RWD, would I want a slightly wider rear or would 225 square work fine for winter/snow? I think I read somewhere that it's ideal for snow to have a narrower tire for better tracking and traction anyways.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Go with 225 square, narrower winter tires have better traction in the snow. I went with 18x8 with +25 offset wheels and have no issues with clearing the Brembos (although I don't know what issues I would have with a lower positive offset). Installation by Discount Tire was less than 30 minutes. My Blizzaks are 225/45R18

Awesome man. Thanks for confirming. 225/45/18 was what I thought. I'd rather go with a +25 for better looks but according to the website, +40 would fit.... it'll probably just look really lame. lol.

I bought 225/45/18 +40 from Tire Rack and think they look pretty good, not as nice as the 19" staggered but not bad

Looks good. I have a 2011 Genesis Coupe this winter tire setup would possibly be shared with as well. Honestly, it would probably go on the Gen but I'm configuring it for the Stinger just in case I need to use it. Gen is paid for so if it gets wrecked, I'd rather loose it than have the Stinger get banged up.

I just drove my Stinger through the aftermath of a huge snowstorm in Minnesota today. Super happy with the performance of the car itself and the Blizzaks I put on. It was borderline fun and nervewracking.

Those are actually quite nice looking steel wheels - nice to see something other than the normal bland stamped steel 'winter rim' offerings, and it sounds like they were a great price.

I have the X-Ice3 tires as well, as a winter only set, and they've been fantastic on frozen pavement, loose and packed snow, and even glare ice. With the AWD and traction control, grip under acceleration is great, and it brings the car to a controlled stop on ice better than anything I've ever driven. For this weather it's just what the doctor ordered ... :)
Can you be more specific about the rims you bought please. My son just bought a 2018 get awd and he will need a winter set of rims and tires. Where can I by those rims and what are their exact size please? Yours look great!
