Has anyone with the 3.3 v6 experienced a slight shake at idle while in park?
I’ve taken my stinger to the dealer twice. The first time they said they didn’t notice a slight shake and the vehicle was fine. The second time, I actually sat with the person at the service desk and he too felt the slight shake. But he said that it’s “normal for a v6” which sounds like BS to me.

Is this a case of hypersensitivity? Like noticing "shudder" in the steering wheel; or brakes; or tire noise, etc. I can tell the car is idling, barely. There's no way to compare unless we can sit in at least two cars. To me the bottom line question would be, "Is my car behaving like it should?" Sitting in park is no way to "test" a car. Does it miss or "shake" when driving it? Sitting in Drive? Does the engine sound smooth when you kick the RPM up in Park? Is there any skip or miss in the engine noise?

For the most part, I think the car is behaving how its supposed to. I don't think its a case of hypersensitivity. The slight shake its definitely there and its define. It feels like the motor is moving a lot more than it should. When I leave the door open, even the door wiggles a bit.

Okay, a wiggling open door is definitely not something my car does while idling. I'd be off to the service boys to find out what is interfering with the air-fuel mixture programing. Could be a faulty "chip" (heh! layman's word for all things computer anymore). Could be any seemingly endless number of possibilities. Could be bad gas! What is your octane?

I am not sure but I might have understood what you're referring to. I have felt and still do a "shake" of the car when idle, and it definitely seems "in synchro" with the engine (3.3). I don't really know how to explain it. Seems like someone pushed it a bit from the left, as the shake seems to travel from left to right. I have no idea or knowledge about the cause and/or if it is a problem, but it is definitely there.
Is this you're referring to?

Yes! This is exactly what I am referring to! The shake happens every 3 - 5 seconds or so. It’s not not like a rattle or anything that happens constantly, But a light shake. It becomes annoying when parked and sitting in the car for a long time. Has anyone else expirenced this? Or can someone take some time to see if they notice this as well?

Spot on...slight shake left to right, just started noticing on mine as well.

Very interesting......when im in the car stopped at a light or in park I find myself looking down at the tach to see if the motor is running...so no shake here at all....I bet i just jinxxed myself....lol ....wash

Or a crook spark plug.

What is the mileage of your car? Mostly highway or alot of stop and go traffic? You mention every 3 to 5 seconds is it a miss or a constant vibration? Possible factors:

Carbon build up.
Worn engine mount(Quite unlikely as it's quite new).
Fouled plugs.
Ignition coil faulty.
Bad tank of gas.

Mine has 2500 miles, driven 50/50 traffic/freeway. I am not noticing it anymore, but I know it's there. the car seems to behave pretty good (I think), so don't know what to think about. Always use premium gas.

How are you guys going to deal with this? As you said, if I go to the dealer they will say it's normal and I dont have a plausible explanation to tell, to have them dig deeper into the problem

I have alittle under 700 miles on the car. I plan on taking it back to service next week and letting them know that it’s gotten worst over the past week. The guys at service only seem to do something about the problem when it’s too late and something fails. They never voluntarily dig deeper which is upsetting.
I’ll have them check for a worn/faulty motor mount since the shaking seems to go away when the car is in gear. When it’s in gear I guess some tension is put on the motor / mounts making the shaking obsolete. So I think it can be a faulty mount.
Also I will request that we sit in another stinger on the lot for a comparison. And I’m betting that there will be no shaking. If there is then Kia needs to dig deeper and do a definitely do a recall for something. A new car should not be shaking like this. I’ve sat in hellcats and they don’t even shake at idle. So there’s no excuse why the v6 stinger should.

P.S sorry if I seem tense. I’m just upset that service said that it was “normal” and didn’t do anything about it. Darn well knowing it’s not normal.

Try to switch off the climate while testing. Could be air conditioner clutch which periodically switches on and off with equal intervals.

My car does it while idling at cold start only......
That's to be expected So far in my ownership there have not been many cold mornings. I got my car in late March and it has felt exactly the same starting up all throughout the summer. Smooth and so quiet that I, also, have often looked at the tach to make sure the engine is running/idling.

I've never noticed this kind of shaking, neither on start nor any other time. Earlier today when I pulled into the garage, "Whole Lotta Shakin'" came on the radio, reminding me of this thread. I sat for the duration of the song in idle with the air conditioning on, and the only movement in the car was from the speakers.
