hi everyone!

I bought my new Stinger GT just yesterday and so far, I love it. This car looks amazing (the front end reminds me of a Nissan GT-R) and it really can get up and go!

I have a question regarding the auto folding side mirrors. I have been looking through the forums and haven’t found any solution to this, but I want to make sure I didn’t miss it. Is there anyway to get the mirrors to fold in while keeping the doors of the car unlocked like when it’s parked in the garage?

Thx!!

Yes. Use the selection switch at the top of the armrest buttons/switches. It is easy to miss seeing this one and easy to bump when driving. I did it once: turned the mirrors in at night during a rainstorm and didn't even notice until I went to signal to change lanes and the blinkers on the mirror caps flashed in my face! So you can definitely manipulate them separately from any doors being locked or unlocked.

Welcome to the forum!

You'll find a wealth of information in the owners manual..

thx for the reply! i have tried that switch and it doesn't seem to work properly or i'm completely messing things up. in the auto position, they shut when i lock the doors and they open when i unlock the doors as expected. if i toggle the switch to the right, both when the car is off and when the car is running and in park, they do not close which i'm assuming they are supposed to?

Thx for the extremely insightful response. I already read that in the manual before posting my question, however, when I tried this with the car running (and shut off) it didn’t work for me so I thought I was doing something wrong.

It only operates when running, so it sounds like yours is broken.

You said you looked on the forums, not in the manual. Sorry for assuming you didn't read the manual when you didn't bother to mention you had.

I guess I assumed that everyone would check the manual first, but maybe not everyone does? Unfortunately, I think there is something wrong with my switch. Seems weird that auto works fine, but the manual overrides to open and close don’t? Oh well, I’ll be going to the dealer to check it out. Still love this car!

Many people ask questions here that are answered/explained in the manual, hence my response. Sorry.

I hope I never have to step foot in a dealer until my next purchase. With so much delicate technology in these vehicles, I doubt that will happen..

I ended up getting the extended full warranty for five years so all the electronics would be covered since this car is loaded with them. We were told electronics were only covered for 3 years/36,000 miles.

I negotiated the 10yr b-b into my Sorento purchase for that same reason. My Stinger is a 36mo lease and I do not plan to keep it, but if I love it enough, I will buy the next one and negotiate the same warranty. No way I'm owning a modern vehicle without full warranty coverage.

My original intent was to lease the full three years, then decide if the newer Stinger was worth swapping my MY18 out for. The "rent" in the lease convinced me to do the buyout pronto: I figured my distaste for selling vehicles (the hassle) was worth over $5K! Heh! Go figure. I'm still planning taking that route and "paying myself" the savings by selling the car myself. But, it may turn out that at the end of two more years the Stinger I have is still perfectly satisfying to me and I won't sell then. The tech is the single most concerning thing to me in a modern aging car: tech is replaced so fast anymore, that I'm pretty sure ten years in the tech in the MY18 Stinger will be very antiquated. Will it be feasible to upgrade it? Can't answer that this far away. Ten years is a long time in the area of tech. If the MY18 Stinger holds up, remains perfectly satisfying to me, and the tech is upgraded without undue cost, I will likely just keep the car until I drop. :) But if the winds of change point in the direction of increasing unviability, I will sell it and get a new Stinger. Of course, the Stinger is a game changer: it is forcing change: and somebody else might very well "out-Stinger" the Kia Stinger.

This is the exact reason I bought the extended warranty.
