Will be looking into tinting and wanted some recommendations. I live in NC where the legal limit is 35%, while SC is 20%. Anyone went darker than their state legal limit and run into police or inspection issues? What is a good brand to use w/o breaking the bank?

I can answer that in the affirmative, as I have read of several reported/shared on here: specifics, I cannot give.

front windshield 50% front windows 35% side windows 20% rear window 5% moonroof 5% all ceramic.
front windows and windshield illegal never squint my eyes driving

I was going to ask about this. As long as the fronts are legal then you should be ok? I've heard going dark in the rear windshield makes it even more difficult to see at night with the small size!

Does anyone have pics of a mixed % tint setup?

I never look out the rear window only my side mirrors or over my shoulder, California is illegal to tent front windows but everybody does windshield does draw a little attention.
any window at 5% would be hard to see out of at night

5% sides and rear. 70% ceramic windshield. My detailer runs 50% ceramic on his personal car and steered me away from it. 70% is perfect for those idiots who don't turn their brights off, but you can still see out perfectly fine.

As I've said before, MN tint laws suck. 50% is what is legal. No way I could pay for 50%, doesn't even look tinted but I wanted something to block a little bit of all that sun making my all black interior even hotter. I went with 40% ceramic, blocks some sun, keeps the cops off my ass.

35% Ceramic tint all the way around... I personally don't like the way different tint levels look around the car. Looks patchy and wrong to me, So I always do the same level all the way around

Llumar IRX and Air ceramic tint, went with legal limits in Texas but in hindsight probably would have done 15% all around.

Did 30% front, 15% rears, and Air 80 (80%) on the windshield and sunroof. I rather like having natural light through the sunroof and wanted to maximize visibility on the windshield. 50% ceramic tint didn't provide much more heat rejection than Air 80 - maybe like 2-3% better.

The general consensus is ceramic tint is worth the extra moola, because it won't bubble, won't discolor, won't impact radio signals (only metallic ones do) and has the highest heat rejection. Any ceramic tint should do pretty well, though I have had multiple tint shops tell me they don't like to work with 3M films. I personally like Llumar because they give a lifetime warranty card/receipt and you can get it re-done at other Llumar installers if it goes bad for whatever reason.

Edit- I should say I am still very happy with the tint though, and will not be changing it :)

20% front and 5% on the rest. Not sure on the brand. As for legal issues, no issues thus far. NY doesn’t allow any tint on the front windows for inspection or V&T Laws.
