Show me your ambient lighting!

Hasn’t been launched here in Singapore yet so can’t confirm any of the 2.0L or 3.3L specs. Dubai Stingers are also missing the ambient lighting apparently.

I can confirm Dubai Stingers have no ambient lighting.

That's probably a good thing. The refresh rates of the LED's are quite low, and it's nauseating. When I first was playing with the setting, I thought it would be cool, but quickly turned it off, due to how flickery it is. Gross. The general cabin lights are also a disgusting 5000K color temperature or so. Way too blue. In Asia they prefer such light, but for the US market, a 2700K or 3500K color choice would have been better. It's too sterile, and makes it feel more like you're in a bathroom than a nice car. I'll probably get some color shift gels to put over the cabin lights, to make it look normal. Same goes for the headlights. Too be fair, I was in a Cadillac last year that used the same ugly lighting, so it's certainly not unique to KIA or Asian car makers.

I think the ambient lighting isn’t bright enough even in the highest setting. Plus other then the one section of the dash it really doesn’t illuminate much on the doors.

I just picked up a Stinger GT2 yesterday and while I was out joy riding at night, I noticed that ambient lighting is only available in the front seats?
Is there no ambient lighting in the back seats?
Is there a wiring diagram available for the Stinger?

I believe it is only in the front. Keeps the rear dark and intimate

lol, I don't think my 8 months old son will need any intimate time in the back seat.
If I can get my hands on a wiring diagram, I might be able to put up a DIY video of extending the ambient lighting to the back seats, all controlled by the dashboard interface.

I guess you're presuming that the led lights are int he rear doors already?

I have never seen any flickering from the lights in my car.

Maybe you should have it looked at by the dealership?

Yeah, I thought the ambient light under the door would be the same in the back seats but I found out that it does not last night...

The ambient lighting is most likely controlled by a 0-5V or 0-10V control module. If you can locate this control module, you can find out how many wire conductors are going to each door ambient lighting. Regular RGBW takes 5 conductors for power and signal but I dont think the Kia Ambient lighting is RGBW since it only changes in 4-5 variation of colors.
From the nearest ambient lighting, t-tap into the existing wires, and run a new set of wires to the back and mount under the doors.
Then you have successfully extended your ambient lighting to the back all controlled by the dash interface.

I remember renting a Ford Fusion many years ago that had many ambient lights/color options. My Stinger only has a minimal display for the front passenger side. Nothing on the driver side. Hardly worth getting excited about. Considering the the trouble of install and menu options, why did Kia get so stingy with it? Not a deal breaker, anyway.

On the drivers side under the door hump in the middle, there should be an ambient LEDs. Same as the passenger door. Passenger side also has a transparent trim on the dash where you should be able to see the ambient lighting at night time.
I drove my friends 2017 Taurus SHO model and it had RGBW ambient lighting option where you can change it to variety of color options.

Its too bad the Stingers didn't have this option... definitely not a deal breaker but I really enjoy the ambient lighting packages on some other cars. Some models on Mercedes have crazy ambient lighting package. It almost reminds me of the Neon lights back in the old days like Fast and the Furious lol.

A mod I always do to my cars is led strip lights under the dash to illuminate your feet. I use red since I have a red car but also because it doesn't mess with your vision when driving. Just get a fuse extender off amazon and have it plugged into the accessory fuse so they are on when the car is. You need to place them so they are not visible only the light from them is. I'll get some pics when I have it all installed.

Ummm, so why do you want to illuminate your feet? Wrong place to be looking when driving!

Trying to understand if it's possible to find on aftermarket. Also please shoot abilight panel under the passenger door handle from where the light come out. Thanks in advance

I love the ambient lighting, I do wish it was a bit brighter. At the same time, I’m happy it hasn’t it all.
