Hey guys, been lurking for awhile, and first post

I am currently tempted to buy a Stinger and not sure if Im going to pull the trigger just yet. Im looking at getting a 3.3TT GT model (no sunroof). Ill give you a little back story. Im 29 & currently have a 2014 Optima SX-T with 39000 miles on it. I have done a couple mods to it to make it my own (window tints, badge, intake...).

Is it worth it to buy a new car? I bought my Optima 3 years ago it was 1 year old and had 17000 miles on it. I just finished paying it off last week.

Should I hold off? Any reason to wait until 2019 over a 2018 model? Used next year?

Thanks for any advice!

Of course it all truly depwnds on how bad u want it, i have a pretty high paymwnt butbi wanted it so i got i and no regrets

That all depends on what you want. I’d love to decide for you, but it all depends on which model, your financial status, if it’s what you really want, etc...

With that out of the way, I had two Optimas and loved them both. I got rid of my 2012 when I upgraded to the 2014 SXL. I traded that in for a Sorento SXL because I had a kid. I always told myself I’d get another Optima until the Stinger was announced. I held off and waited and since it would end up being double the price of the car I’d be replacing (2015 Sonata Limited)...I wanted to make sure I had enough money for that and all my other vehicles.

I also knew that I’d want to moderately modify the Stinger after getting...to make it my own.

Since I think there are many factors at play.

It's all up to you. When I was growing up, in the dark ages before internet and cell phones, the old saying was don't buy the first year of any car. Nowadays, who knows. If you can swing it, go for it. Only you can say if it's the right thing get time. Either way, welcome to the hive.

Mmmm, you used to be indecisive but now you’re not your not so sure! Lol
I had an Optima Platinum I loved it but it’s not as solid or as fast as the Stinger. Buy it you won’t regret it!

It’s your call, only you know your circumstances & finances, you will have to be comfortable with your decision.

If financially you can afford it, I would buy the Stinger. My first Kia ever, so I do not know how the Optima compares. I just know that I have not regretted my purchase. I have the base GT because that's what my budget allowed, but I plan on adding some mods as well.

The Stinger is a step above the Optima in terms of performance, especially with the 3.3T. I would say wait a bit until the 2019s come out, the current crop will drop in price and you will see if there are any additional options on new version that you may want.

If and when you decide we would love to help you out finding the perfect Stinger.

You are in a good position as you don't need to get a new car, so wait for a spectacular can't miss deal and do it then.

I get a feeling that there will be more than a few 2018 leftovers hanging around when the 219's arrive. That will be the best buying opportunity IMHO.

Wait for the electric one as all cars that run on petrol or diesel will be banned in USA by 2040!

I'm frugal so that affects my answer. I hate car notes. It's possible to retire a millionaire by just investing just what most spend in having a car note perpetually. So to answer your question directly, if I just have to blow money on transportation, I save the money I was spending on the Optima either to pay any other debts or to save toward a. Stinger next year. The features will be better in the next iteration.

If money is not an issue, then I'd sell the Optima privately and get the Stinger.

Go get that Stinger! Well we got 2 already. Check my signature;)

..................I had money left over to buy platform shoes ! Bawaaaa

You could wait till the 2019s come out and see what type of deals you can get on them or the older 2018s. I’m guessing that they’ll be cutting more deals on the 2018s to get rid of them. Or if you really want and don’t mind used...wait and get a used (1-2yr) stinger. I’m thinking it could be a pretty nice deal on a CPO, but I’m still new to this so what do I know haha..
