You'd need a new dash cover, and new windshield..
It is not. It's "old school". Retro. Like a lot of the interior. And the general lines of the body.Has anyone going any cool shift knob replacement (aftermarket)? The T one is kind of ugly haha.
I'm part of that few as well. My gripe isn't the necessarily the look, but just being accustomed to using that instead of paddle shifters when I go manual. My G sedan and my old M3 had the release button more ergonomically correct for manual shifting using the shifter..I guess I'm one of the few that like the t-handle better than the FBW shifter.
I don't understand: the "T" shifter doesn't use a button of any kind. You just bump the "T" to upshift and pull to downshift.I'm part of that few as well. didn't explain that well. the location of the button feels awkward when shifting from P,R,D. For manual mode, the T doesn't give me the same feeling as a manual shifter - and if I hold it like a manual shift nob, the button get's in the way.I don't understand: the "T" shifter doesn't use a button of any kind. No I think that link applies only to the shift by cable variants - 2.0T and base GT.Thanks. I'm looking for the one for the drive by wire audi style shifter. Does that link apply
I currently have the GT2 I was wondering if I would be able to do this on mine. Read the through the forum and it seems it's only being done on the GT and GT1.
I believe it does up to 60K miles. You can only ask.Dam. Mine is losing color and peeling. Wonder if the warranty covers it.
Hi everyone. Has anyone replace the "T" shift knob (non drive-by-wire) with an aftermarket part? I've only seen one replacement option out there, but can't imagine that other options don't exist.
Apparently the knob is kept on by friction, so it's not hard to remove. On my S4 it was a PITA to R&R the stock shift knob with a replacement that didn't look like it belonged on a 90's Chevy. This one looks easier to swap, but I'm not sure what's available.
Thanks!
To anyone who wants to swap out their SBW knob to the carbon version. I have instructions that show how to do this precisely
Same. I hate shift by wire.I guess I'm one of the few that like the t-handle better than the FBW shifter.
That looks greatI replaced my GT1 “T” style shifter with the one out of a Sportage/Cadenza/Optima. Part number 46720-D4200 (need to buy the one with the leather boot attached, as you need the clip on the inside). Installing is pretty straightforward. Remove the old boot and then pull up forcefully, but carefully, on the shift knob and it pops right off. Swap out the boot collar clip & knob and reinstall. There is some minor boot trimming and gluing/tacking of the boot to the clip to keep it in place but nothing too difficult.
