Clicking on the icon to the right will bring up the light, dark, or "system" mode options.^^I see, for my options it only shows default and alternative. Thought it was that way for others too.

thank you thank you thank you!! now it looks normal and the topics are legible.Cool. The dark theme is still there.
I also started getting the "you have 0 out of 2 clear page views to restore functionality" banner and alert message. Tried disabling which resulted in 9 ads on the page, and uBlock telling me I was now connecting to between 15 and 30 (!) domains. Even nosey youtube maxes out around 10.So I use AdGuard in Safari and because of that the forum software won’t allow me utilize the search function until I whitelist the site. The problem with that is now I have ads I didn’t before. It wasn’t like this prior to the update. I know ads are necessary to keep the site going however I dislike this either/or stipulation.

Since the latest software update, the new system preserves resources by restricting a few of the more resource intensive features when ad blockers are used. Most people don't even know they're using an ad blocker as many browsers and VPNs have them installed as a factory setting. But things like search and attachments are items that fall into that category. Whitelisting this site and browsing around a bit will get the functionality back again.I also started getting the "you have 0 out of 2 clear page views to restore functionality" banner and alert message. I don't know if this is the default for the "upgrade" or if someone turned monetization settings up to Ultra, but I'd rather do without zoomable pictures and such than go back to the 1999 Geocities experience while Faceberg and Google run wild...
I wouldn't mind an ad or two to support the forum, but top, bottom and sides along with dozens of trackers is pretty intrusive...I can't imagine there's no setting to reduce this, as I don't encounter it on other vBulletin forums.Since the latest software update, the new system preserves resources by restricting a few of the more resource intensive features when ad blockers are used. Basic functionality like reading, writing, etcetera is not affected... To note, any of the account upgrades (even the cheapest one) allow for the use of an ad blocker without the reduced functionality.
Google IS running an experiment to try and figure out which ads work best in which positions. So I see what you're seeing as well - more ads than usual and in different sizes. That's not going to last forever. It's either going to figure out what works best (which is supposed to - when all is said and done - figure out positions that don't interrupt flow) - or I'm going to set things back the way they were previously - which means smaller and fewer ads/positions.I wouldn't mind an ad or two to support the forum, but top, bottom and sides along with dozens of trackers is pretty intrusive...I can't imagine there's no setting to reduce this, as I don't encounter it on other vBulletin forums.
I did try turning off the Brave ad shields which will let ads load while uBlock blocks the trackers, but the forum still considers that ad blocking. Same thing when I set Opera's built-in privacy tools to allow acceptable/non-hostile ads.
