Also - just to add some confusion... my 2018 originally came with an oil cap that read "0W30".
There was a recall/service campaign to replace the oil cap with a new one that read "5W30"

What I found interesting is that - 0W30 - is FULL SYNTHETIC.
5w30 can be syth or semi or anything in between.

Weird. I never found out the reasoning for the change from 0W to 5W. 0W is objectively better for cold starts.

Minor Stinger recall

Went yo my local Kia dealer today to have the oil changed. They informed me that there was a very recent Kia minor recall for my Canadian 2018 Stinger GT Limited. It concerned the engine oil cap, which needed to be replaced because the markings on it (type/grade of oil to be used) were wrong...

So, I'm seeing that before, the Canadian oil cap said 0W and they replaced it to not be synthetic (the manual back then said nothing about synthetic): but now, all N. American Stingers are required (under warranty) to use only full synthetic? What model years other than 2022 does this affect, if any? Will oil caps be changed back to 0W?

I do not think they will change the cap back to 0W. 5W can be full synthetic, or Semi, or not, many flavours available.

It just so happens to be that there are only synthetic 0W (if there are any non synthetic 0W oils - I have sever seen it)

And why is that? Follow the money: this is a money grab, pure and simple. Synthetic will go without any doubt 12K plus miles before "needing" to be changed. We are talking about normal driving, of course; as I said earlier, if you're driving your Stinger like a performance car (as compared to driving this performance car as a Gran Turismo, making occasional or even frequent use of its impressive acceleration and speed capabilities) then changing oil will be a top priority, i.e., more often than that. But even so, I think that 3K miles is just a wasteful ripoff.

Sounds like hogwash to me. Your conditions don't differ much from mine and my oil has tested good my first 2 oil changes at 6k miles each. I also do my own service and just log it with receipts. I don't really have time to deal with going to a shop for it, and they'd just be confused on how to remove my skid plate anyway (even though it's easy)
