Seat memory fail

Hello all!

I’ve been noticing each morning I get into the car and my seat bolsters are not where I set them.

On several occasions I’ve set memory 1 to my desired settings.. sometimes several times in a row just to be sure it’s saved.

I’ll drive all day, leaving the car for a few hours at a time and then getting back in without issue. However, in the morning, I jump in, the seat adjusts to my desired location but the bolsters are wide open and I have to adjust them again.

Anyone else noticing any quirks with their seat memory?

I might have, once, but that might have been something the car wash people did. I don't have the GT2 so no bolster adjustments.

You know, this car has so many doodads that I'm surprised more things like this don't happen. *knock on wood* How would "they" even look for something causing this minor glitch? I guess it could be part of a definite location; but replacing the "chip" or whatever might involve inordinate expense? Don't know. If it's just bolsters, and the rest of your seat memory is saved, it might be better to just wait it out unless or until more of the seat memory saving feature acts up.

I have the same issue. I'm pretty skinny so I like the sides of the seats to be pulled all the way in, and I've noticed that they don't always go to that position when I get in the car.

My guess is that all of the seat axes aren't on closed loop control systems (they're probably open loop stepper systems with limit switches on some of the axes). This means the car doesn't know the absolute position of the seat all the time, it just runs the motors for a predetermined amount of time to reach the desired position (i.e. dead reckoning). If there's too much force acting against the motors moving it will result in the seat not reaching the expected position. I'm trying not to get too deep into the controls side of things but I've spent a lot of time thinking about this while adjusting my seat.

Your two options are:

1. Reduce the force you exert on the seat while it's getting into position once you get in the car.
2. Disable the function that moves the seat when you shut the car off so it's always in the same position.

Confirmed. The seat bolsters definitely reset after. Day or two of inactivity.

I am the only driver. Both setting 1 and 2 are set to the same preferences.

Last drive was on a Friday. This morning, bolsters are wide open..

I have a GT2 AWD and am pretty picky when it comes to my seating position, if it’s slightly out I can usually tell. However, after 30days I have not noticed this issue. I will bear it in mind the next week or so and see if I notice anything.

Mine stays I set it, did a couple of saves, turned the car off and when it restarted it was right where a saved it.

Thanks guys. The issue only occurs if the car is not driven for a night or two. Usually I see it happen Monday morning when Inhavent driven it since Friday. Throughout the day it recalls the position correctly. Something about being off for a prolonged period seems to mess the bolster portion of the memory up.

Very strange, almost like inadequate battery voltage to maintain the seat memory or a defective memory module. Have the tech check battery voltage -- there is a special test for that battery. It may have adequate cranking power to start the engine but if there is a defective cell, it could crank but not meet the electronics requirement. Was the car demoed on the show floor prior to purchase? Sometimes the batteries are damaged by prolonged discharge which is common in show floor demos.

Hi guys. Wanted to reignite this one. Anyone else experiencing bolster memory fail after 24 hours of no use?

To reiterate the issue: I have the bolsters set as part of the seat memory. When I park the car on Friday and get back in on Monday morning the seat, mirrors and HUD return to where they should but the seat bolsters stay wide open. They don’t return to their set position. During a normal week of parking and returning to the car the bolster returns to position just fine. Only after a prolonged rest, my guess is 24-48 hours the bolsters don’t return to position.

Looking for anyone that can confirm the same.

My seat bolsters often forget to go back to my desired setting upon the car restart...usually first thing in the morning. All other seat adjustments seem to be right, it's just the bolsters that are lazy.

I put it down to the air inflation and over time needs to be recharged by holding the bolster in for awhile. I got used to this plus a few other initiation button presses

Im also having this issue. Mornings when I drive to work(or usually after 8 to 10 hours of not driving), the bolsters would not adjust to my proper saved setting. But driving back from work, it registers as normal.

This is not the issue in this case. At least in my car, the bolsters open up when I shut the car off, I believe this is normal operation. Where it becomes an oddity is when you let the car sit overnight, the bolsters do not go back to the tight position, but any subsequent restarts of the car throughout that day result in the bolsters tightening upon startup.

It is possibly this is by design since it happens so consistently, but not sure of why they would do that.

I thought it could have been by design but it sounds like not everyone is seeing this issue. Going to investigate further.

Maybe some of our cars are just having old age related memory failures.
